due to the angry point scale i'm following i'm currently playing pat-a-cake as it is an activity that makes me feel calmer

Scratching is not necessarily violet. It’s also commonly used as a synonym to itching an itch (“scratching” an itch). Even when scratches are painful, they are typically just a little painful for a second or so, unless it’s a cut, but that makes it no longer a scratch.

The line has been drawn somewhere now, but just like wms's convenient bird workchart he uses everytime he gets faces with an argument he can't back out from, where does it go from scratch to cut?

We actually don't get very many complaints about Scratch as a name - none that I can recall. And we have a lot of time and money tied up in Scratch as a brand at this point. So let's please stop with the renaming suggestions.
