I was using Firefox for 5 hours earlier today and I somehow didn't notice that.

It's inevitable that many things will embrace AI to a degree. Even DuckDuckGo has had AI implementations for a while. What's great about Firefox's implementation is that
  1. You have choices in which one you use, which is something you don't see much.

  2. It's literally hidden in the sidebar.

  3. You can just disable it if you don't want it.

If only they worked on improving natural intelligence first…

And how would you propose that they do that without a complete understanding of the human genome and epigenome, and a lot of data about how our brains work?

The original goal of the internet was to be a document-sharing and educational resource

Yeah you're right.

My only issue with Firefox is that it doesn't support as much stuff (especially things where the spec isn't finalized) as Chromium-based browsers (except on Android, seemingly, where browsers don't support random stuff for whatever reason).

Agreed. I just switched and there are some weird things that don't work. My browser / operating system: Android 14, Firefox 130.0, No Flash version detected, although I also use my computer. If anyone cares, I'll edit this post with my computer when I am at it.

It's off by default. The option is in Settings → Firefox Labs.

Thanks! But it's a bit less impressive than I thought, it's not integrated or anything it seems to literally just be an embed that's pinned to the side of every tab. It's still even using the same account I was already signed into with the normal tab, and you can just use split screen on windows.

nevermind it has a cool simplify and explain thingy

it also doesn't work with containers (if you set a website to always launch in a container using a mozilla official extension, it won't apply to the sidebar.)

This is a Firefox only issue IIRC. This is why I tend to use MS Edge, or Safari, or Chrome for Scratch projects because performance is better on them.

Maybe there's some compatibility issue of Scratch running on Firefox for whatever reason. Maybe it's an issue the Firefox devs can't fix, or they just refuse to fix. *shrugs*

It's the spidermonkey JS interpreter. It's just slower than V8. If you want to use a browser with V8 ( == a chromium browser), at least don't use the spyware ones

which one do you reccomend then, for projects at least? at first i thought it was my computer but projects run way faster on a way less powerful laptop with half the ram. google chrome takes your data, opera gx too, microsoft edge begs you to use copilot and office 365

Haven't used it personally but Brave seems like a good option. It's chromium based and definitely more privacy focused than other chromium browsers.

SPIDERMONKEY? THAT'S THE ONLY EXPLANATION, THE ONLY REASON WHY PROJECTS RUN SLOW???? Okay then… Fair enough…
