Manager Applications
Just wanted to post all of these in the same place and on the current page so that we don't have to keep going back and forth between pages.
The application form, for reference: Username || How long have you been a curator for? || Do you have experience in managing studios? || What would you say are three of your strongest qualities? || Why do you want to manage? || How active are you?
puppydoglightfury || I'm not quite sure. Maybe a year or two? || A little, but not much || I work really hard to be online and post things because my school has a lot of homework. ( I don't like answering questions like this, because it's more likely to be accurate if someone answers it for me. ) || I want to be a manager because even though I love this studio, I don't know many people on it. I want to be a part of it more than I am now. || Always active on weekends, but a lot on week days too.
Echolocation-zin|| Im not sure, quite a while tho||yes, but each studio has different expectations of a manager ||Im determined, creative and loyal || I would like to manage so that I may come back to the writing scene in full force, and I really do want to see this studio flourish and I would love to see it become more active|| Im extremely active in other communities, and now that i have my chromebook back I already have projects lined up to post! i will be completely active!
AprilLavender // Probably like a year and a half // Only my own studios
// I’m kind, I love helping people in SWOW and just Scrtach in general, and I’m creative // Because I adore SWOW. I probably wouldn’t be scratching without you guys. I’d be able to help people in a whole new way. I believe creative writing on Scratch deserves more attention (I made a whole project on this subject if you’re interested), and it could help improve my leadership skills // I get on Scratch every day!
TweetyBurd || About two years || Just my own || I like to help out and talk to people, I can be creative, and I'm also pretty active on Scratch || SWOW was the first studio I was introduced into on Scratch and one of the very first ones I joined. This was one of the main things that inspired me to really start writing and improve my skills. Out of all the writing studios I've seen, I think the SWOW community was one of the most active and engaging ones, and I would love to keep it like that || I'm on scratch everyday
JesterofNovember||About 3 years, on different accounts||Yeah actually||See, telling me to list those makes me sound arrogant, but, Smart, Dedicated, and Experienced||Because I've been here a while, and have been waiting for the manager position to open up forever||So, going off on @serpencat's posts, every two serpentcat posts, I'll check out what's going on.
ShadowSayaka || a loooooooong time || not really, used to be on committee but it fell through || leadership, motivation, communication || I like this studio and want it to thrive || I have time to be as active as necessary and beyond!
PoemFlower// Two years // No, but I've got experience in leading team projects, like presentations or plays // Creativity, meeting deadlines and kindness under pressure // Because this community has helped me feel welcome and develop my writing, and I want to bring that to new writers // At least half an hour a day

Should we get to voting on managers? The studio seems to be getting a bit impatient.

I'd go for two, and we can change things if they don't work out later.
My top are:
JesterofNovember
Poemflower
AprilLavender
How long do we want to wait for the other managers to vote? Also, what do we want to get working on when we decide on the new managers? (Reestablishing roles, working on magazine, planning any new events {or reestablishing the committee like we decided we wanted to earlier this year}, and stuff like that)

Not sure how many we are accepting (probably 2, I suggest)I would suggest 3 (or even 4), based on the fact that Poppy (I believe) and I might drop in occasionally, but probably won't be that active. I know Derp and Peggy haven't been around for a while now either, so three promotions would probably be good. At the most active we had 7 managers who were checking in frequently, so I imagine having a similar number to that will help with balancing role rotations when/if those make a return.
Either way, here are my top 3:
AprilLavender
JesterofNovember

Hello! I am calculating the average for each person. Here's the current list (will be updated):
PoemFlower: 2.25
AprilLavender: 1.5
JesterofNovember: 2
TweetyBurd: 0.25
Higher numbers are BETTER.

If we don't get any other votes by Saturday, should we move ahead and announce it?

(#1369)I guess so, yup. It's most definitely going to be PoemFlower but the others may need more votes.

Are we leaning towards PoemFlower and JesterofNovember, then?
(As a note I do agree with Jori that maybe we should probably add more than two managers, so maybe we see how two managers go and if we need more help we recruit another?)

(#1371)Yup! On average, we thought JesterofNovember was a better candidate but we can add three… thoughts? If there is none, I'll be adding PoemFlower and JesterofNovember tomorrow.

As a side note, we also should probably start doing (and probably reevaluate) the monthly roles again to balance the workload :\

Welcome, new managers!
Hey guys! First of all, congratulations on becoming managers of SWOW! Your applications and presence on the studio made you stand out to us, so I have no doubt that you'll all be assets to the team ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Second, welcome to the manager forum! As I'm sure you've guessed, this is where the managers get together to discuss events, roles within the team etc — anything and everything related to helping the studio run smoothly and maintaining an engaging community.
You probably already know this part, but I'm Jori, the creator of the studio. Right now, as I'm sure you also know, Carmen (@Unity_and_Cq) is the studio host and the person who's been at the forefront of keeping things running behind the scenes for the past couple of months. Just as a heads up, I'm not going to be around consistently — but I'll still drop by sometimes to help out where I can.
In any case, congrats again and welcome to the team! Feel free to introduce yourselves on here, and ask any questions you may have. I'll let the other experienced managers take the lead on how things are going to be running here, as all of you are going to way more active than me ヽ(。◕o◕。)ノ.
Annnnd that's my long post done XD I have no doubt that you'll all excel as managers — both newcomers and experienced managers alike

Hi! I'm Tris, and I go by she/her pronouns! I'm so excited to be a manager of SWOW. It has probably been my dream since I first joined! My most recent five-star read was “One of Us is Lying”. I'm currently working on the second draft of a novel. I can't believe this is happening, and once again, I'm thrilled to be a manager of SWOW.

Okay so here's the agenda:
Okay, so basically for Monthly Rotations, here's how it works!
Each manager is assigned to a specific “task” to keep the studio running. These include AOTWs, QOTDs, etc.
So…
QOTDs: @Unity_and_Cq and @PoemFlower
On a sidenote, if you have QOTDs or AOTWs share them regardless! We are always looking for new ideas to use!
(#1373)Don't worry Dawn, I see you! We do need the monthly roles again. Not sure if you saw but I removed the POTM for now.
As a side note, we also should probably start doing (and probably reevaluate) the monthly roles again to balance the workload :\

Each manager is assigned to a specific “task” to keep the studio running. These include AOTWs, QOTDs, etc.
So…
QOTDs: @Unity_and_Cq and @PoemFlower
- For reference, there should be 15 QOTDs (if you literally can't think of any others, you can give less and you have a lot, say a lot! We want your ideas!) QOTDs should be short; they should be answered in a couple of words to a paragraph. People are taking time out of their day to answer these questions and making them a question that requires a one word answer or an entire essay will make people lose interest. Some people will answer in one word or an essay but that's their choice and we shouldn't make it for them.
- Two AOTWs is perfectly fine! AOTWs should be able to be written in 10+ words but under 75 so people feel inclined to answer.
On a sidenote, if you have QOTDs or AOTWs share them regardless! We are always looking for new ideas to use!

QOTD ideas
1. If you could meet any fictional character and ask them one thing, what would it be?
2. If you could only describe one of your stories in three words, what would they be?
3. Some books pull us in so much that we feel like we live in those worlds. If you had to live in the world of a book, what would it be?
4. We are constantly learning things from trial and error! What's the most relevant piece of advice you have learned about writing?
5. Writers are known for their cruelty towards characters. What's the most heartbreaking thing you ever did to a character? (I'm not sure about this one tho).
6. Do you have a favourite genre for writing? If so, which is it and why?
7. Are you a plotter (plan out your books before starting to write) or a pantser (making it up as you go)? Why?
8. Are you a plotter (plan out your books before starting to write) or a pantser (making it up as you go)? Why?
9. Do you have a place that inspires you to write? If so, what is it?
10. If you could only write one genre for the rest of your life, which would it be?
11. Are your stories more angsty (sadder, especially about personal problems) or fluffy (more comforting and happy)?
12. Where do you often get your ideas from?
13. Do you pour a bit of yourself into your characters?
14. What do you use to write?
15. Do you like drinking or eating while writing? If so, what?
As I come up with more ideas, I'll update it, but this is what I came up with for now. Also, I'd love feedback because I think they're too short compared to normal QOTDs (also I feel like I'm messing up with the ‘which’s and the ‘what’s help)

Thanks, Carmen!
AOTWs:
- Describe the plot of your current project really badly.
- Describe a villain of a book, movie, or video game without using the name of the villain or the story, and try to guess each other's!
