Support. What if these young kids click off of the Scratch account on there and see something bad? Scratch Team shouldn't be linking kids to that.

You need an account to click off the account. You also kinda have to actively search for bad things, even if an 8 year old somehow signs up for it. It's not much worse than a Google search, that can be linked on the forums.

My concern is also, where will they send notifications that the website is down?
If this was an older post, you used to be able to find stuff on there without an account anyway though
I do not remember if this prevented searching or anything though (I mean after this was created)

It was created yesterday(I really need to start linking quotes…)

That would be a nice compromise.

That would inspire people to create their own news channel /j
But I strongly agree bringing back Scratch News.

Support, Twitter is a 13+ site, not appropriate for Scratch at all.

Support, especially considering you can't even talk about Twitter X on Scratch, I believe.
It seems rather hypocritical of Scratch to link to a website that they don't even like being mentioned that has adult content.

At the very least, they should do what they do with YouTube where all links convert to Scratch-sanctioned ones.

They don't allow to link to X, for safety reasons, because they don't want you to do inappropriate things with another Scratcher online. Obviously the Scratch Team trusts themselves to not post inappropriate content.

I believe you have to create an account and search if you want to find other posts on X, and potentially some could be inappropriate. But at that point, you might as well have just typed the link to X itself, since almost everyone I know has heard of X.

Support. X has very anarchist-esque policies, so anyone could go on there and see LITERAL .

I support this.

It's better to be safe than sorry. You don't want a young innocent kid to go X, and then they sign up for an account because they seem to be interested, or they want to interact with the community. It isn't common, but the chances are never zero. It's bound to happen.

And trust me, Scratch and X are kind of like opposites in a way.

Support mainly because the ST rarely posts website maintenance updates to their account anymore. Having a proper page on the Scratch website announcing them would be better.

Stop linking Twitter.

Pros:
  • It could help stop kids from accidentally finding inappropriate content.
  • It could prevent Bluebird from tracking little kids if the servers are down.
  • It could encourage kids not to register on a site that doesn't follow COPPA and thus shouldn't be used by them.

Cons:
Absolutely none.

I have no idea how maintenance mode works, but I assume that when the site is in maintenance mode, you wouldn't be able to view the page on the Scratch website.

Maybe it could be a page on .org?

i support this, apparently a non-scratch acc is needed to view those posts, and something like threads might be better

by the logic of this suggestion we should ban cubeupload because it links to a private messaging service…sorry, but the internet is already dangerous; scratch is zero exception. you’ll find bad stuff anywhere.

but that doesn’t mean we can’t try to mitigate some of it! i do want the X page to be replaced with some kind of server status page every time the site goes down because i don’t want the scratch team to manually post something regarding site downtime. a scratch “blog” could be a good replacement too (like scratch.mit.edu/news)

I believe there’s something called “Atlassian Statuspage”. It’s basically what you’re saying. (Example) The Minecraft server Hypixel uses it.

Edit: King of the page. Cool
