I think people should stop reporting ads. The cg (community guidelines) never said anything about it. People only advertise because they spend days on a project and get 0 views. They arent fame hungry, not spammers, not cm breakers. THEY ARE DISCOURAGED!!! My friend is getting mass reported JUST because he advertises, and he wakes up to so much hate. SO ST STOP BANNING ADVERTISERS!!!!!!
The Scratch Team can create policies that aren’t in the Community Guidelines, such as the browser extension one.
Btw advertising is sharing, it’s just some 5 year old changed the name and it stuck.
advertising is a form of spam usually
Can you stop necroposting?

No support. A ban can block users.

That's what it's made for. To block people who are breaking the community guidelines severely.
Also, not a reason to “not support” the suggestion.

No support. If you fail to follow the community guidelines, you shouldn't be allowed to use the site at all. Usually bans only apply when you severely break the guidelines, if you actually get banned, that means you aren't capable of using the site properly. The only thing you can really do here is install the Scratch editor (of the version you so choose) and/or log out which means you can explore the site, play games, etc., but cannot do a majority of things you could do if you even had an account. You can save projects and save your backpack in the editor (with only your blocks that you have access to in your editor) iirc, but that's pretty much all you can do.

I support this, but wouldn't you just be able to continue working on the project? If you have another unbanned account, you can just download the project and keep working on it? It just defeats the whole purpose of the ban.

Ban evading is already prohibited, but working on it offline is fine.

Support, although you can sign out to gain access to some features. However, doing things like working on projects, reporting projects and other stuff and posting comments/forums would be disabled. So I think this is a better concept.

Why should working on unshared projects be banned?

Read before you say “No Support”

It's a good idea, but it kinda makes the point of the ban useless.
The ban is to make sure you can't do anything on Scratch, so it punishes you from not being able to interact with your projects so you understand that you shouldn't do the action again. For instance, say you get grounded and then your parents decide to still let you play with your favorite toy. Doesn't really teach you the punishment.. and might lead to you thinking the action is okay to do.
Sorry.. no support for this reason.
It seems like you have misunderstood. The user did not suggest to still be able to interact with stuff on Scratch when you are banned. The user said that you are allowed to look at stuff but you are unable to interact with it. For example, you can look at a project that just recently received so much comments. You want to reply to them, but you can't because you are banned. That is what the user is trying to say. So in the real case of the example you demonstrated, the child can look at the toy, but he can't play with it because of the restriction.
the point of a ban system is not to punish the use but to stop them from doing any more harm

you should still be able to edit/download old projects and sometimes you can accidentally violate the community guidelines I had a close call when I posted a game with cloud chat and didn't know it was ban. luckily someone told me.

Support. This especially is good because sometimes people are banned for no reason, since filterbots are doing most of the moderation. I've been threatened with blocks lately due to the filterbots muting me unfairly myself.

Oh hello, want to bump this topic by offering some ravioli? Why sure! (Disclaimer: might look like spam, but it's actually a bump. Please take it lightly with a grain of salt.)

Support. Technically bans are meant to remove your Scratch privileges but, let's look at the purpose of Scratch. Education. For example, if you got featured and an impersonator started misbehaving as you, the ST might take a bit to realize, that wasn't you on another network, that was a troll account. So why not be able to at least use the project creating aspect of Scratch for it's purpose, education.

dayum i discovered this topic existed because of you

i probably said support on my older accounts that made a post here, but i'll just say support again cuz why not?

well for starters, my old accounts from 2022 got banned from posting inappropriate comments. Back then i was pretty mad to the point i had to make ban evade accounts to post projects. Younger me would've been happy if this feature was implemented back then

although this isn't a necessity for me now, since i lost interest in making actual projects, i think this is a useful feature for accounts that received temporary or minor bans
