For me I feel like this would get pretty inconvenient. I don't wanna sound lazy, but clicking a link every time you want to read the footnote gets tedious fast. The example shown that doesn't use a footnote :
With footnotes: This has been rejected (rocks this was rejected because rocks are very hard. And we like easier stuff in scratch, so we prefer pillows. also because I don't like the color grey (made to look long because rejection notes are long) ) this means that this has been suggested before and rejected by the scratch teamfeels incredibly exaggerated and pretty unrealistic, so it feels hard to see a point. I wouldn't say it clutters the post, because usually text in brackets is used to provide extra information about the topic, so it's still pretty important and I don't think it should be replaced with a link that's quite easy to look over.

That's the point, you dont have to read the footnotes, it's just additional information that is not as important. If I did this: For me I feel like this would get pretty inconvenient. I like rocks, why? Because I eat them and they tasty snack (trust me, they tasty), if you don't believe me, try it out yourself, (it may be a chocking hazard)
the stuff in parenthesis isn't needed, but is still info that can be used.

I do support. This feature can be very helpful for adding citations, other links, or little notes.
I find this a great workaround, if I'm being honest.I’m just giving a workaround, I didn’t say whether I support or not, I’m just giving something that can be done in the meanwhile. But it is not diagonal to the text if you do that. Here’s a workaroundResult:[small](1)[/small]

Yeah, it doesn’t work very well because it doesn’t really float next to the text, but just something that can be done. But do you know any better way of doing it? /gen
Edit: you can use superscript digits and () instead of normal ones and remove the small tags.
