Changing the forum software from DjangoBB to Discourse
i agree tbh. the current layout is easy to navigate, simple, and straightforward. discourse seems a bit, idk, messy? i like the idea of switching the forum software, but i don't really like the layout of discourse.

no support. just LOOK at all this clutter.

the current ui gets straight to the point, and it's easy to tell where everything is. with discourse, there's a lot of unnecessary ui on the page, and even after being on websites that use discourse for a long time, i still can't even figure out how to post something. it gives me headaches

I think this won't get implemented because it would require so much work from the ST and they are already so over taxed, but I support the idea.

it'd actually most likely require less work in the long term, as it is very easy to switch over and would mean much less upkeep for the devteam I think this won't get implemented because it would require so much work from the ST and they are already so over taxed, but I support the idea.

Semi-support. DjangoBB is outdated with its last official update being 7 years ago, so Scratch's security is less likely to be exploited if we switch to another system. However, it'd involve wiping everything (goodbye Everything Shop), or painfully converting the DjangoBB format to Discourse (it'd involve human intervention since there's no known scripts to migrate from DjangoBB)

Both database schemas are open, it'd be quite easy to make a script. it'd involve human intervention since there's no known scripts to migrate from DjangoBB

The quotes in discourse look better too, and I think people would be able to be notified when pinged maybe?
One thing though, discourse forums’ notifications are typically seperate from the normal site and the forum is usually at a different domain then the main site (ex: discuss.scratch.mit.edu), so would that mean scratch would have to be like that too? Cause I don’t really want that

Semi-suppport. While this have some pros (Closes topic after 1 month of posting, drag and drop files), scratchblocks needs to be ported there, many stickies will be closed, limited posting for new users.
