Is the scratch font exclusively for Scratch?
It doesn't look like it… look what I found at the pet supply store today:

Looks like scratchfont to me.
So my question is, was is made exclusively for Scratch? Are other people allow to make stuff with it and sell it without permission?
…and if not, are the ST allowed to sue?

I just compared it to the Scratch Wiki image of the Scratch font here, and yup, it`s exactly the same.

I think ScratchFont is released under the Open Font License, so it can be used for anything.

The Scratch Font was actually from a free font website. It's not surprising to see it being used elsewhere. “Scratch Font” is simply the name others give it around here being that it was used for the Scratch logo.

To be honest, I don't know. I know it once described as a type of graffiti font in e-mail conversations. Perhaps one of the older developers might know the actual name. The Scratch Font was actually from a free font website. I see "http://hjem.get2net.dk/jfischer" in the TTF file but I can't connect to it.
Edit: It's on archive.org! Doing some detective work…wait
Edit 2: Possible match: https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/pizzadude/plumbsky/
It's not free but it looks very similar

Found it.
…although it's from a dangerous website and has a slightly offensive name.

Hmm… I can see why the Scratch Team didn't use the font's real name.

hi
after having “read” the content of the font file, i can confirm that it's very likely a font by Jakob Fischer.
his site says that his fonts are shareware, that they are free for personal use. otherwise, you have to buy one font from him to be able to use all his fonts.
but: reading further in the font that is linked from this forum, it suggests that the font is called “Black boys on moped” and that it can be freely distributed. It does not say if it's free to use, but one could understand that.
i've found the font on dafont.com and it says there, that it's free for personnal use:
http://www.dafont.com/black-boys-on-moped.font
i also used the wayback machine (archive.org) to check the webpage that mr. Fischer mentions in the font itself and it also says: “Feel free to download and/or distribute any font on these pages”
use is not mentioned either.
in my eyes, it's not a free font and should not be used for the scratch project. (that's a general problem with the concept of personall use and non commercial…)
but it would make my life much easier if i could use it!
the question is, what mr. fischer meant at that time. as far i can tell, he can change the license for the new downloads, but we might still be bound to the original copyiright conditions.
i've sent a message to mr. fischer and i will post here is answer, if i get one.
have a nice start to the week

btw, i understood only after posting my contribution, what you meant by “slightly offensive name”.
a quick search in the internet shows that the name is likely not meant to be offensive.
happy to live in a non-hypersensitive world…

p.s.: and i also clicked on “report” and thought it was saying “reply”… * dyslexia.
