Support, if it's an option, there aren't any downsides.

That’s like posting projects and not wanting people to view them.
No support for the above reason.
Furthermore, even if it were just to be an “extra feature,” ST obviously doesn’t have time for features that will only affect a handful of users and that are not related to accessibility.

The irony is that accessibility features only affect a handful of users too.

Oh boy and dont we forget that yet again as people have previously stated, parents and stuff sometimes (and more commonly then normal) thinks followers are something bad (“hackers”, E.T.C), in which case would prevent someone from using scratch.
its less like “posting a project and not wanting people to view it” and moreso “posting a project and not wanting people to press the like button”
And I really doubt ST doesn't have time for a feature like this. Unlike dark mode (which would affect most pages), or the forum revamp (which works on really old stuff), this feature only needs to affect a single page, has already been done before (theres no follow button on your own page, and I don't believe there is when you're logged out either), and can probably be done as fast as removing some html (or javascript) code

I would also like to mention that being forced to be followed is an invasion of privacy. One can know everything you do on the site and the only alternative is being completely ostracized from the rest of the community? What if you want to chat with your friends but do not want a random guy to check on you everytime you do something?
Just imagine if the real world worked this way - Yeah, I can follow you home, use your fridge, sleep in your bed, steal your toothbrush ( don't be mad, I gave credit ) and your only alternative is going to be an hermit in the Appalachian Mountains or something.
And I thought Scratch was supposed to be welcoming for EVEYRONE.

those people would probably be able to unfollow you, but not be able to follow again, so that could be a little annoying

There could also be an option to disable following AND remove all your followers.

Some people's parents think followers are creeps and don't want them.

Then why would they allow them to go on a website that is basically social media in the first place?

Scratch is about coding, not followers.

Scratch is about coding, not followers.

The definiton of social media is:websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.

Scratch fits into that definition, so it is technically kid-friendly, educational, social media.

No, this I will not change my mind on, ever.

Followers is not the purpose of Scratch, and as my past self was trying to explain, users who's parents are allowing them to use the main website for education purposes, and not using it for other things is fine. Followers aren't meant to be disabled from a user who wants to follow a specific user.

If you or your parent, guardians are afraid or concerned about someone following you and to see your profile and projects, then that's on you and them.

Scratch is a place where you're imagine, program, and share, NOT shutting down the website, turning off following for users who want to follow.

I am unfollowing this discussion. Good day!

No support. what's the point? you can creep on people without following them. If it's to the point where closing comments is not enough then just use the offline editor or dont verify your account

Who's parents? Its not like you can share faces (OR private chat) here, do people really consider wanting to see what people are making creepy?

My mom doesn't even want me commenting.

because you're talking to random people online, you can already just turn off comments

Oppose. It's like making a project and asking people not to view it, just eikh2 said. This is on the same level as the ability to remove remixing.

Besides, Scratchers are meant to be social, so why would people want to disable following?
