Report Featured Project on a Profile

Not everyone can use Contact Us. Also, @pandacorn_owl's post is really good.

Bob has never heard of Contact Us they see an innapropriate featured project. They go to report it but te link doesn't work. Bob is confused and either a. makes a topic about it, b.makes a studio about it or c. does nothing. Jeff later finds the same project he knows about Contact Us but doesn't have an email so leaves it. Adding an option in report profile would get people to report something far quicker
And Contact Us is slower than a dead person waking up; if you had to use Contact Us every single time you report something, then inappropriate stuff could stay up for longer because of how slow it is.

If the ST doesn't implement this in 2024, I'll change my pfp to a catgirl for a week.
sorry catgirls

Did I already say I support?
If not
Support, I haven’t seen someone misuse this unshared featured project thing but I know it’s possible so this could work well

If the inappropriate featured project was shared, then people would report the project from the profile page instead of from the project page, which is where they should do it.

Although, if this were to be implemented, would reporting the inappropriate featured project be okay to do?

Bringing this topic up to the first page of Suggestions.

I think the better phrasing for this option would be “Featured Project Thumbnail”.

Support, I have actually seen this before (people were putting scary, gruesome, and distorted versions of Scratch Cat in the projects). I couldn't report it, and Contact Us takes MONTHS to reply.

I thought this was already on the first page? Anyways, I've seen people follow accounts/favorite projects/follow studios in a specific order to spell things that break the rules/community guidelines too, though that might be harder to implement a report option for.

I support, but the ST can take action, since it was up in the first place (regardless of whether they used console method or other method, it was still up on the website), so they can still ban the user for it/delete the entire project.

Oh and also, I think featured project shouldn't be an option in report a profile because people might use that to report shared featured projects too.

Maybe there should be a little red flag (symbolising report) next to the featured project. When clicked, it can detect if the project is shared or not, and if not, it sends a report. If it is shared, then there'll be a prompt to go to the actual project itself.

Also, people don't just use a console trick, they do this thing with two Scratch tabs. They share the project first and on a separate tab they select it as featured project. Then, on the previous tab, they unshare the project, then switch tabs again and select ok. That's the simplest way to do it.

What about the title? People could have bad titles (abbreviations for swear words pass through the filter - I saw it)

Switching to no support. Ideally, this is better than having no option, but it's such a small issue overall and the cases where it does happen, using Contact us wouldn't kill everyone to use.
It's not necessarily a small issue. You're one person with one perspective; you may have seen little to no cases of this occurring- but every case is still a case.

Contact Us isn't accessible for some users. Lots of people have their own emails and can easily have conversations with the Scratch Team, but that's not true for everyone.

Think of a hefty few children who are <13. They're not allowed their own emails; they use a parent's. Is it easy for them to go onto a parent's phone? Not always. The parent may send an email to the Scratch Team but ST doesn't reply to direct emails (I think). Said parent may think the Scratch Team is unreliable, which could of course not be the case. We don't want Scratch to get bad reputations among parents, do we?

The above is not always the case, but it's a possible one.

If they do this then there has to be an official banner feature.

Report Featured Project on a Profile

The problem at hand is that people can feature unshared projects, making them unreportable.
Being able to report a featured project from the profile doesn't actually fix the problem, it just works around the problem.
I think it would be better for the Scratch Team to just fix featuring unshared projects.

Currently, when featuring a project, Scratch only checks if you own the project you're trying to feature.
It should also check if the project is unshared, and if so, silently deny the request, as that already happens when you don't own the project.

Not only would that fix the unintended behavior of, you know, featuring unshared projects, but it would simultaneously make all featured projects reportable, as they'd have to be shared.

That's a good point! I'm surprised I didn't consider that when I wrote my earlier response.
Of course, I'm no longer interested in this suggestion, but if it gets implemented, that would be something to take into account.
