Nah my profile picture is a mii of me although I could turn it into what I like to call AlfE-T.
Anyways I also suck (someone who can't even distinguish between shorthop aerials and shorthop falling aerials wipes the floor with me) and want to put a lot of ssbu time towards teaching my mom rn (she's starting to learn recovery and could probably take a level 6 on her own if she figures out that one thing)

Most common? It'd be accidentally Pyra side specialing when I'm trying to up special, and the “no specials without your sword” rule kills me.
Most funny? It'd have to be the Yoshi move where he bounces in his egg before rolling around - I think it's his side special - and you fly off the edge.
Self Destruct KO as in stock trade; giving up your stock to take the opponent's. Like Bowser side-b off ledge.
Also I mained yoshi for like a week and yeah it's his side-b and has always been one of the worst specials in any smash game. Super punishable, weak and easy to SD* with

Ah, I see.

In that case, hmm, I don't know if I've actually ever done or had to do that. If I had to do that, playing as Sonic, I'd just side-b to kill them then fly off the edge myself. But you can stop that from happening, so not much of a sacrifice. That's such a difficult question… I guess if I had to I'd probably punch a bomb item when throwing it won't work.

I guess my SD examples would probably work as a Self Destruct KO.

As a side note, why are side specials always my doom? Take a look at my other post and you'll realise.

Also, in relation to your other response, what is a “short hop aerial”?!? The only aerials I know are in Rocket League!

So

Aerial is an attack inputted with A, used while in the air. If you press the jump button and A in unison (while on the ground), you'll do a shorthop aerial.

A raw shorthop can be done by letting go of the jump button before your fighter is airborne (I believe that only takes three frames so be quick) or by pressing multiple jump buttons at the same time.

A shorthop aerial is when you shorthop and carry out an aerial at the same time, also called a Rising Aerial but that term applies to any aerial used early in a jump.

There are five kinds of aerials based on the direction you have inputted as you press A.
Neutral Aerial: No direction
Up or Down Aerial: Up or down respectively
Forward Aerial: The horizontal direction your fighter is facing
Back Aerial: The horizontal direction your fighter ISN'T facing
All aerial names are shortened from aerial to air, and all but up air can be shortened to nair, dair, fair or bair respectively
.

Ah yes smash attack spam is the first step to learning ssbu. Try to mix in other attacks and learn the attack types.

OOH WAIT I JUST REMEMBERED I MADE A 2-PAGE DOCUMENT (I intend to print it two-sided for only one paper) TO EXPLAIN SOME CONTROLS FOR THIS GAME SHOULD I PUT IT ON CUBEUPLOAD TO PUT HERE

Hmm, both useful and not. I wonder when I'd use this…still, good info. Although…

My sister mains(ed) Pit, and would always annoy me by doing an up air to just juggle me up in the air. I found it incredibly difficult to defend.
I should have dair'ed to hit her. Why didn't I think of that?

A horizontal joy-con (aka Half-con) Is just the upper half of a pro controller/full joy-con functionally, but with these two differences
SL to grab and SR to shield respectively instead of L/R and ZL/ZR
Press the joystick like a button and then any of the letter/arrow front buttons to taunt

I have to screenshot both full pages and upload them to cubeupload, they'll be in my next post

Tell me anything I missed
Btw if you ever want to make something like these for another game I shared all these button icons (easy to modify/use creatively for other consoles) on a project

Yes, it goes through shields. Some moves, like Ganondorf's Side- and Up-B's, are called Command Grabs and are basically an extra grab/throw cycle. Moves that seem to grab are usually like this.
Unless they're ranged, like Byleth's Up Special or Isabelle's side special in which case they do worry about shield because a ranged command grab is overpowered yet Steve still gets one that already doubles as a vehicle ram to benefit his P2W mains

here's a little set of quesitons, what ahas happened to my typign

Question 1: Have you used the Edit Video mode?
My Answer: I've used this loads. Most are movies, often divided into parts, some of my new ones - infact all - are comedy videos, and I've done ONE highlight reel - Here's What Happened #1. Intending to make a series whenever I go online with my friend.

Question 2: Have you customised your controls?
My Answer: Not on SSBU. On SSB4, I made a Nunchuck control scheme, and it actually worked.

Question 3: Do you press a button to jump?
My Answer: Why would I? (no offense)

Question 4: What's your main?
My Answer: Pyra/Mythra on my first Switch, Sonic on my second Switch and on Wii U, and Donkey Kong if I'm playing REALLY casually. And I consider most things I do to be casual. Not often I'd do something that isn't casual. Currently hunting that OP main - although I like playing the FS Meter as Mr. Game and Watch and that works pretty well - so some help would be nice.

Question 5: What's your hours?
My Answer: Dunno, probably around 600-700 accumulated, but my second Switch is 130. I got that a couple months ago!

Question 1: Have you used the Edit Video mode?
My Answer: Not recently. Maybe back when I first got the game (May 2022).

Question 2: Have you customised your controls?
My Answer: Yup. Jump on A/B, Attack on Y, Special on X.

Question 3: Do you press a button to jump?
My Answer: Who wouldn't?

Question 4: What's your main?
My Answer: Mii Gunner/Sora. Mega Man if I'm playing with someone who doesn't have FP2.

Question 5: What's your hours?
My Answer: Probably around 150 or 200.

Mozboz had some questions so here we go

Question 1: Have you used the Edit Video mode?
My Answer: No, not really. I keep planning to but never getting to it.

Question 2: Have you customised your controls?
My Answer: Yeah. My bottom right joystick is tilts instead of smash attacks. I also set RBumper to jump but never use it anyway. Stick jump, vibration and a+b smash attacks are off and sensitivity (smash attack window) is high (a single extra frame-)

Question 3: Do you press a button to jump?
My Answer: Yeah, it prevents me from wasting a double jump on accident and also lets me more effectively recover to continue striking fear in casual opponents as Jigglypuff (not my main, I just like trolling my friends with rest)

Question 4: What's your main?
My Answer: Look at my signature, lol. I've also been starting to use Pokemon Trainer again.

Question 5: What's your hours?
My Answer: Probably 650-750 at this point

Wow, I didn't know people pressed buttons to jump so much. I knew I was in the minority on using the Edit Video mode, but not with the jumping with buttons. I guess there's a benefit, but I grew up on stick jumps and I'm too far in to change to button jumps.

Also related to my answer to the mains question, I probably need to find a new main while I wait to be able to play as Pyra/Mythra once I can buy that DLC - I'm poor right now. But I should definitely learn from this topic, because I used to play Ganondorf when I was starting out because I liked his controls despite his slowness
