Where do the music loops come from?

I'm unable to check right now, I probably just heard a very similar track.

This is why I said PROBABLY, because there are similar loops that Scratch used, and it is possible that the MIT developers used this sample CD, as scratch is known to use samples from other sample CDs, like the Brian Transeau and AMG 160dB ones.

Nintendo did use this multiple times in their games, which is why some might sound familiar.

Also, yes, you did get the full thing, along with the Distorted Reality 2 ones and NKI files for Kontakt, because the one I downloaded before had the same layout.
Okay, good to know, yeah.
Well if nothing else it was kind of fun to listen to xD
Plus the track names made me laugh more than once. And “ZWEEP” is also really fun to say xDD
I just reviewed distorted reality again and i'm think I'm gonna use some CHEEZ on my projects.

Wait, where did you find that? I'm just curious. Because I used Get Info on the MP3 from the project linked and I couldn't find any mention of iTunes.

Also, for that matter, how did that project even have this music? Was the “extended” version included in Scratch 1.4?

EDIT: Full list, including those we've sourced so far

Half of these songs (including Cave) are able to be considered lostwave.
Maybe try submitting these songs to WatZatSong?

He is correct, Techno2 is actually not a fan made version, scratch wasn’t the first to make it, techno2 was actually edited by scratch because it was copyright if they used it and it wouldn’t put be in the loops category,

You are correct in that it was not a “Scratch original” song, but are you certain there was a copyright issue there? I couldn't find any information on the license of the song, but I couldn't help but notice that on archives of gloob(ic)'s website on Wayback, some of their songs were hosted at a web.media.mit.edu domain - so I'd say it's quite possible that someone at LLK just got informal permission from the group since both were at MIT and might be acquainted with each other? Unless there's documentation stating otherwise, of course.

was actually thinking something similar, theres a lot of places online dedicated to finding stuff like this, the lost media wiki might also be good, theyve found stuff in the past much more obscure than this

This is unrelated but Gloob(ic) sampled this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfG_kF3-Zss

For anyone who thinks sampling is stealing, it's not. Sampling is still creative, you have to find the perfect chops from the song your sampling, and then arrange it into a melody that sounds good. If you don't know sampling or microsampling, you should go look into it. Daft Punk's songs in Homework and Discovery are all sampled. Kanye West (or his producer) has sampled, many artist that you might know have sampled songs. There's a guy named Todd Edwards who has worked with Daft Punk twice, and his work is INSANE, like there are many microsamples of many different songs that are arranged into new melodies.

Anyways, I don't know how Gloob(ic) would've known this, as it was never released physically and basically only few people knew about this artist.

Gloob(ic) had a massive library that was on MIT, including the full version of pralax and gryrow, but it has since been gone for a long time.

Jeff Lieberman and Eric Gunther both went to MIT just by doing a quick google search. So techno2 was NOT edited by scratch because it was COPYRIGHT, Eric Rosenbaum and Jay Silver created a video including a Gloob(ic) song, the reason why is because IT WAS FILE LIMITATIONS, scratch has the file limit at 50mbs, and a full raw song of Techno2 would fill half of it. All of scratch's songs are clearly either royalty free or from closely related people and to the developers of scratch.

Edit: I just realized, we can look at royalty free websites (bensound, incompetech, etc.) or look at libraries of musicians who were/are at MIT.

Wait, really??
Okay, that's it. I'm now 90% confident that Jay Silver probably sourced all or at least most of the 1.4 loops…
If anybody can answer our questions, it's probably him. Only trouble is, he quit the Scratch Team

Reasons:
1 - He's Beau Silver's brother, and Beau Silver wrote a ton of the songs, (according to metadata at least) and we can't find them online either.
2 - He's the person who asked bmarcell to use the “eggs” song. I'm just assuming that the account jay is him because the profile info fits what it said on his website.
3 - Clearly he knows gloob(ic)'s music!

(also why didn't i get a forum activity message for this?!)

I'm honestly not sure who got emailed. I didn't contact anyone myself because I'm too antisocial to actually do that kind of stuff >.<
Though we definitely should make sure not to spam anyone about it! That would be bad.

Hey, I would just like to bring this WatZatSong post to your attention even though this isn't a music loop: https://www.watzatsong.com/en/name-that-tune/834441.html

The description mentions both Scratch (obviously) and a sample CD called “160dB” by AMG, so “160dB” or sample CDs in general might be a good place to look.

I have an idea so on 3:21 seconds of this video https://youtu.be/e8_cTrhoFfE?si=i0o7sc3VdZ-m9YUH it basically tells us how much they found the sound effects in old Roblox, I am pretty sure this will work with scratch too.

OMG TOASTEDCHERRIES MENTIONED? Also the Datafile sample is sourced from somewhere else, as Datafile and AMG usually take audio assets from records and CDs without licensing as it would be very expensive to license these very short samples.

That was me who made that. I mostly made it due to AMG sourcing samples from other places (https://www.whosampled.com/AMG-(British-Label)/Track-30-43/ and https://www.watzatsong.com/en/found/Jeff+Beck-Diamond+Dust-793179.html ) I accidentally stumbled apon the Jeff Beck sample.

Decided to talk to experts at WatZatSong and WhoSampled, but they didn't seem to know either.

If you mean checking the metadata we did try to do that with the Scratch 1.4 sounds - Unfortunately there wasn't much to go off us and what was there was mostly ungoogle-able. Of course, there's always a possibility that the metadata is hiding more secrets - and I'm still not sure what, if anything, this hex code in the comments field of the uber-mysterious Cave (extended) track means:
000004C8 0000007B 00004262 00002D41 00007FF5 0000A7F5 00006BCD 00006386 00003E72 00007FDB
(I tried to see if it was encoded text but if it is, it's some gibberish that I don't understand )

I was thinking of all the dance loops coming from the same source since if you listen closely you can hear the same instruments compare snap (sound effect) to dance space
You'll hear it
