Mass Reporting

Hello, I am @be_grxpeful,
so many inspiring projects of Scratch, that are so high quality, or simply amazing, get onto the featured projects section. When that happens, some Scratchers report projects out of spite. These projects have their creators working for days, weeks, months, and even years! Some might be funny, have good messages, or be a game: nothing that should be taken down!
So; what's a solution to this? Scratch should check each project before taking it down, no matter who, or how many people report it. Also, we can be the solution! All reporters (that report for unworthy reasons) should STOP! Just stop!
Please tell me your opinion about it, and some solutions you have in mind!
Now as always; be grapeful!

they already do that, except in the case of mass reporting, in which case it's automatically taken down. the point of automatically taking down a project with a lot of reports is to make sure nobody else sees it until the scratch team gives it the ok (because chances are, if a project has a lot of reports, it's probably inappropriate)

The project should be back up in a few days or hours: https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/Report#False_Reporting

Of what @breakfast_for_dinner said,
they should not have the automatic feature of taking down projects that have been mass reported. Many Scratchers with lovely projects, with good messages projects are getting mass reported. 80% of times, they are not inappropriate. The “report” buttons are used in an unfair way.
Thank you,

While it's unfortunate the reporting system is being abused, it's a necessary evil. Projects are taken down after receiving several reports to be held for review by the Scratch Team. If the project is deemed inappropriate, it is kept down, but otherwise the Scratch Team puts the project back up and will typically flag it to not be taken down again. Essentially, it's just a way to ensure that Scratch Team can review potentially dangerous projects before a large audience has to see them.

And also on that note, this topic has already been brought up and rejected by the Scratch Team:
3.5 Remove the automatic project censoring system
The automatic project censoring system, with the accompanying temporary account block, is extremely useful to ensure that the community stays safe. Without this system, users who make inappropriate projects could keep making them without immediate consequence if a moderator is not online at the time. That would just expose more people to inappropriate content. While the Scratch Team is open to making improvements to this system, neither removing the automatic project censor nor removing the automatic temporary account block are the solutions.

do you have a source? where'd 80% come from? mass reporting is not actually as big a deal as people make it out to be. i would suggest reading jvvg's article for more info.

I personally am against removing the feature outright, but rather, Scratch should review each project before it gets onto featured and they can be given immunity from the feature.

I think you must mean the “trending” section. Featured projects don't often get taken down.

Please read @Jvvg's essay on common misconceptions about this: https://en.scratch-wiki.info/wiki/User:Jvvg/Essays/Misconceptions_about_false_reporting

This really isn't a huge problem. While projects get mass reported, and falsely reported, in most cases the people reporting them get sent an alert (and in the case of organized mass reporting, may be banned). The project is usually back up within a few days.
