Okay so I have been on scratch for about four months, but I know that scratch 3.0 got released a while ago and I was wondering, are you guys going to post Scratch 4.0? No pressure but I was just wondering

To my knowledge, there has been no official reveal of Scratch 4.0.

the only reason we keep upgrading is because the tools used to build it were becoming outdated. the tools used to built 3.0 will still be relevant a long time from now, so don't expect it anytime soon

Even if we forget that HTML5 is not dying anytime soon, they still have to update the forum and profile pages to 3.0, implement dark mode and some user based suggestions, before they can announce there are plans for Scratch 4.0.

They don't have to die for Scratch to move on, Scratch moved to Adobe Flash for performance reasons and to edit in the browser rather than because Squeak was dying (you can still play content from it online at the official Squeak site, or offline by downloading) and (if I remember correctly) Scratch actually started to move to 3.0 because there was no tablet support, as Adobe Flash's discontinuation was revealed after work on 3.0 was started. Even if 3.0 wasn't rushed, it would still likely eventually release.
