Why does NFE exist instead of removing the projects? (Besides animated thumbnails)
Why does NFE exist instead of removing the offending projects? Is it to frustrate people by not letting it in the search bar without the person knowing (NFE is invisible without browser extensions)?
While there is a good reason for projects based on horror franchises to not be FE, there's NOT a good reason to make it semi-visible instead of removing it entirely.
Note: Animated Thumbnails do exist, and those projects are not worth removing, but worth an NFE. I am talking about other projects.

With things like gif thumbnails, the NFE is there to prevent lag by making those projects not appear on the explore page, although with horror projects yeah idk why they wouldn’t just take the projects down, hm

If it's not appropriate for the 5 year olds but doesn't break the community guidelines, it's NFE.

It is NFE because it is borderline breaking CG'S but does not break it so completely banning it would be unfair. Like a game that is violent but not gory, or a horror game that does not have scary jumpscares.

Certain types of projects also exist that don't break the Community Guidelines but would not be appropriate for the front page of Scratch, so this is why projects could be NFE.
Keep in mind also that the NFE tag was not (and still is not, to some extent) intended to be a public feature. Only the Scratch Team was supposed to know about it. If only it wasn't for those meddling kids…
