Rename Scratch Jr. to something else.

Rename Scratch Jr. to something else. The reason? It's because the title is misleading, because you can't share (and therefore remix) other projects, which is what Scratch was named after.

I don't think anyone is getting confused by the title. If anything, the current name is helpful as one can recognize it as a version of Scratch meant for younger users.

Scratch Jr is already a fitting name in my opinion because it is basically a watered down, more child friendly version of Scratch. The “sharing” part of Scratch is not the entire point of Scratch - it is a programming language after all.

It's named Scratch Jr because it's simplified Scratch for babies.

I wouldn't say it's for babies.

But yeah, I don't think anyone is getting confused by the title. It's fine as is.

Babies do not equal 5-7 year olds.

Nah. It's quite literally Scratch for juniors, you cant get any more direct than that.
What do you think it should be renamed to?

Scratch is called Scratch because you can remix other people's projects. Scratch Jr. doesn't have this feature, hence why it should be renamed.

If i remember right, scratch is the name of the coding language and scratch was named after the language. The name has nothing to do with remixing.
Since SJR is a dumbed down version of scratch (the language), calling it scratch junior makes perfect sense

scratch is a programming language. the site is named after the programming language. i do not believe it has to do with remixing. renaming it would cause confusion as to how the two are correlated.

That is not the entire point of Scratch though. It's a programming language. Here's what my thought process is:

- Okay, we got a programming language called Scratch. Now we gotta make it friendlier for kids.
- We should just remove the sharing feature from this new version because kids don't need it.
- Alright, what should we call it?
- Well, it's still based around Scratch, and it's for kids, so… Scratch Jr?
- Perfect!

Pretty sure that it's as clear as it gets here- the true origin of Scratch being called “SCRATCH” isn't really important, because Scratch is now recognized as a website and programming language for children, and not for what the name “Scratch” originally meant.

ScratchJr makes sense- it's an app for people who are younger than Scratch's target audience.

Meh. I agree with everyone else here. It's too iconic for it's name, and it fits better than any other title that you could think of. Maybe suggest an idea that'll benifit and prosper for all ages.

Edit: What in ravioli tarnation was that spelling lol??

No support, the title is perfect at stating it’s Scratch but for young young kids yk? And you should expect some features to be different due to it having Jr in the title

The community, and features in other block-based coding languages (for the less controversial ones)

please, tell me: if scratchjr's name is quote on quote misleading because of the nature of scratch's name, what would you rename it to that wouldn't be misleading?
