Idea for combatting ban evaders (PLEASE read before you reply)
My suggestion would be to automatically disable account creation on the user's IP address immediately after blocking their accounts (but not hard IP ban them). This would mean:
I know this is a dupe, but I closed it because it devolved into people thinking I'm suggesting an IP ban, which is not this.
- The user cannot create a new account;
- However, they can still login to their blocked account(s) to appeal their block; and
- Unblocked users can still login to Scratch to edit and share projects.
I know this is a dupe, but I closed it because it devolved into people thinking I'm suggesting an IP ban, which is not this.

sibling: gets blocked
other sibling: wants to join scratch
other sibling: can’t join scratch cause of sibling’s actions
See? This would be unfair to people who live in the same IP as a blocked user.

That still happens with straight out IP bans, doesn't it?

Straight out IP bans don’t happen in every block, however this user is suggesting that this kind of ip ban will apply to ALL blocks, right? So it’ll be even worse then it is now cause more people will have to unfairly deal with this, no?sibling: gets blocked

One petty thing it should be to appeal instead “to get the account unblocked” because it is not really guaranteed is it?

If the appeal is good and genuine it’ll probably be accepted, though One petty thing it should be to appeal instead “to get the account unblocked” because it is not really guaranteed is it?

But what it was a justified ban?If the appeal is good and genuine it’ll probably be accepted, though One petty thing it should be to appeal instead “to get the account unblocked” because it is not really guaranteed is it?

It looks like it is a temporary IP ban so after the temp IP ban is over, they can just create an account after that unless it is indefinite.

Logged out users would still be able to use the project editor, or failing that, download the Desktop onto their computer.

But what if they want to interact with the community?

You do know that appeals get accepted for deserved blocks too sometimes, right? Cause apologizing exists. But what it was a justified ban?If the appeal is good and genuine it’ll probably be accepted, though One petty thing it should be to appeal instead “to get the account unblocked” because it is not really guaranteed is it?

Agreed; this is exactly why the Scratch Team doesn't automatically IP ban all blocked users (even if it were just to an account creation ban). This gets very complicated when you realize that students in school often share the same IP address. If one person gets blocked in school, that effectively ensures that the school can no longer use the Scratch curriculum in future classes. They could appeal it, sure — but that's a hassle, especially if different students get banned each year. sibling: gets blocked
other sibling: wants to join scratch
other sibling: can’t join scratch cause of sibling’s actions
See? This would be unfair to people who live in the same IP as a blocked user.
If an appeal is good, genuine, and apologetic, it will most likely get accepted, even in the (usual) case that the ban is justified. But what it was a justified ban?
That makes things complicated for teachers who are already used to using Teacher Accounts. It's not really fair for one student to disrupt the entire class. Logged out users would still be able to use the project editor, or failing that, download the Desktop onto their computer.
