Daily 1, Intro
Word Count: 1,048
Hello, hello, everyone! My name is Ash or Wish, no preference on which one, and I use she/her pronouns. I’ve participated in multiple sessions of SWC before, but it’s been awhile since I joined one, so I’m looking forward to getting back into it! I’m sure this month is going to be fun! I could be wrong, but I think this is my first time in non-fi, and it seems like quite an interesting story line!
If I had to describe myself in a nutshell, it would be a (graduated-) homeschooler who, as much as she dislikes the stereotypes, is a huge nerd. But I’m not going to stick to just a nutshell here, am I?
I’ve always been horrible when it comes to describing personalities, and I suspect it will be no different when it comes to mine. But I shall try. I like to think I’m pretty friendly, if rather quiet. I have a very silly and random sense of humor and I love to goof around. I’m insanely sarcastic, but I usually dole that back online- I’m a huge optimist but I /will/ be extremely over dramatic about tiny inconveniences.
I may be nineteen, but scratch is still important to me and I hope to be on here for awhile more. I just feel the need to be open about that, in case anyone is uncomfortable- I hope not though, I promise I don’t bite.
My favorite thing ever has always been nature. I love the plants, the animals, the rocks, everything. I used to even want to open a nature preserve/sanctuary. Birds have always been my biggest interest, and while I’ve admittedly been slacking quite a bit, I still consider myself quite the birder.
Speaking of animals, I have two dogs. One is a nine year old Maltese whom I’ve had since he was a puppy, and the other is a sixth month old Maltipoo! Things have been pretty chaotic having two of them around, but I love them both and they’re like brothers to me.
Anyway, on to hobbies! Obviously I like writing, though I’m realizing it’s been awhile since I really did any. I usually write in a mix of fantasy and realistic fiction, which is odd because I don’t read as much realistic fiction. I also enjoy dipping my toe into horror, another genre I never read. And of course, sci-fi is always fun. My real strength is probably poetry though, writing in verse always comes easier to me.
I hope someday to publish a novel, but as of yet no such luck. I’ve got to actually finish writing one first, I suppose!
I mentioned reading, so that seems as good a thing to talk about next as any. I’m very happy to say that I finally got out of the biggest reading slump of my life- it feels great to be reading regularly again! My current all-time favorite series is Keeper of The Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger. I’ve always gravitated towards fantasy books but I’m trying to branch out more, as well as trying to read more young adult books. I’m always open to recommendations-
Another passion of mine is bowling. I never would have imagined I’d be an athlete, but it’s become one of my favorite things and I hope to go pro with it someday. The only thing I wish is that it was a more popular sport, because I don’t know anyone else on scratch who does it as a sport. But it’s very fun! I haven’t bowled a perfect game yet but I hope to soon!
Another thing I love is music. I’ve tried to play multiple instruments (piano, harmonica and ukulele) and I’ve never been able to stick with it, but I love listening to it. If you need to know how obsessed I am, my main playlist just hit two hours long with over 3k songs, and still going. My favorite genre has always been country and more recently pop as well, but I listen to a little bit of everything. My favorite artists are Kenny Chesney, Hayden Joseph, Kelly Clarkson and I’m currently pretty into Keith Urban’s music.
And podcasts! I never would have expected myself to get into podcasts, literally never, but I love them so much! They’re so convenient, I can put them on while I’m doing something else -such as drawing- and then I get all the fun of a book or show without having to commit my time to that one thing! The first fiction podcast I ever listened to was The Two Princes. I’ve now listened to it multiple times, and I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of it. My other favorite is Welcome to Night Vale, and I’m currently listening to Wolf 359 (I’m not very far, so no spoilers!)
I don’t always listen to fiction podcasts, but when I don’t I’m usually listening to podcasts /about/ fiction lol. I like ones such as Keepercast and the Gayly Prophet, where they talk about various books. In this case, Keeper of The Lost Cities and Harry Potter.
Since at this point I’m apparently just listing my favorite fandoms, my favorite shows at the moment are High School Musical The Musical The Series and The Dragon Prince. And say what you will, but I still like My Little Pony.
Let’s see, what are some other random interests of mine- oh! Lately I’ve been pretty into MBTI. I’ve dappled in Enneagram as well, but I currently prefer MBTI. It’s so interesting, and it can honestly be a useful tool when done right. I’m an INFP by the way.
I feel like people tend to peg them as rivals but I’ve always loved astrology as well- I don’t know much beyond the basic sun signs though, but it’s still very interesting and I’ve found it helpful.
I also like learning about random tidbits of history -particularly queer history- and the history of various movies and animations (I’ve kinda sorta read a Disney animation encyclopedia twice-). Those two things may seem unrelated, but they come together when it comes to the history of queercoding and queerbaiting, which I find quite fascinating.
Now, a joke before I leave you! A man walks into a bar. The man says, “Ouch!”

Surf's 1K intro : 1000 words : 7/1
Hey! I’m Surf, and I use they/she pronouns. I’m in EST, though I’m traveling for the first week of July, and am currently in a different time zone. This is my third SWC session, and my first one in July. I’ve been in sci-fi for November 2023, and March 2023, but this session I’m very excited for solarpunk. I am hoping to apply as (co-)leader for November or for March, but I have to see how my schedule turns out and if I’ll be able to be active enough. I’ve been on scratch for seven years, and I wish I had found SWC at a younger age. I mainly write along the lines of fantasy, and I’m hoping to write and develop a novel this summer. Last November, I also did NaNoWriMo, and wrote the longest novel I’ve written before. In hindsight, I should have done more planning, but it was incredible to finish a project that large. I’m also working on writing a podcast in collaboration with my younger cousin, so that’s definitely a fun thing that I can’t wait to work on. I have a few recent projects I’d like to develop this summer, so I’m excited to see how they all turn out!
One of my hobbies is reading–right now, my favorite author is Brandon Sanderson. Some of my current favorite books/series include Mistborn, the Murd3rb0t Diaries, Earthsea, and some books by Andy Weir. I’ve also really enjoyed Code Breaker, which is a nonfiction biography about Jennifer Doudna and CRISPR technology. My favorite genres are fantasy and sci-fi, but I also enjoy some mysteries, like Sherlock Holmes, books by Agatha Christie, and the series called The Agathas. Some of my favorite graphic novels include Brooms, the Moth Keeper, and the Girl From the Sea. I’ll read pretty much anything except horror or violent/very mature books, so if you happen to have any recommendations, let me know! I can also recommend books for anyone interested–just let me know the age range and genre.
I enjoy the sciences as well. This summer, I’m self-studying chemistry since I’m going to be taking honors chem next year, though I prefer geology and molecular biology. If I had to choose a career, it would likely be between those two majors, but I’m not quite sure yet what I want to do when I’m older, but any form of scientific research always interests me. Science is my favorite core subject, though I also find world history interesting, as I love to learn about different places and cultures. I’m taking Spanish in school, but one of my other goals this summer is to become better at it, and hopefully become fluent in the future. Some things I’ve been doing to improve are reading chapter books and nonfiction books, which has been pretty helpful in developing a larger vocabulary and better understanding grammar, though I want to work on improving my conversational and speaking skills. I’m also trying to learn how to code better this summer, and I want to both improve on my Python knowledge and try to learn Java.
In my free time, I draw and doodle. I’m not the best at art, as I’m self-taught and really need to check out some instructional resources or anatomy guides, though it’s always a fun and relaxing thing to do. I usually use Procreate and make digital art, though I also make cohesive magazine collages or collages using textiles and fabrics. I write in a bullet journal as well, and designing the cover pages for each month is pretty fun for me. I like to include different pens and art tools, but also different mediums like ripped paper. I usually don’t use it as much in the summer for keeping track of appointments and things to do, but try to create more art in it during the summer months. Other mediums I want to work with this summer are watercolors, oil pastels, and acrylic paint, which I hope to do when I get back from traveling.
I also like to go hiking and exploring with my dog when I have a chance. I like being outdoors, and I also play tennis for my school, but I play outside of the season as well. I sail in the summer, and I also like to go rock scrambling, though I haven’t been able to go for a year since there aren’t many places near me. I like going camping or backpacking, which is another thing I want to do later this summer, as long as it isn’t too hot out.
My favorite shows are The Dragon Prince, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Legends of Korra, The Bad Batch, Rebels, Star Trek: Discovery, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Derry Girls, and a few others that I’m probably forgetting to name. I like watching movies too, but I don’t have a specific favorite one, though Wolfwalkers is up there–I love its art and the style.
As for music, my current top groups are Twenty One Pilots, COIN, and Of Monsters and Men. I also like listening to popular songs played solely with violin (and sometimes piano), which I suppose is sort of classical music but at the same time not really? I don’t know. I don’t listen to music all the time, but I occasionally make writing soundtracks for the stories I’m writing or for book series that I really like, to get some nice vibes.
My favorite color is blue, though green is also a pretty color. I like all of the shades of blue–steel blue, navy, teal, aegean, cerulean, etc. Blue is just such a diverse and awe-inspiring color in general, from the many shades of the sea to those of the sky. The names of colors are fascinating, and color actually ties into one of the stories that I’m planning to write this summer (which does need a lot of development and worldbuilding).
Thanks for reading this 1K intro–sorry for rambling–and have a very happy SWC!

1k intro, and now i am going to sleep
Why hello there ;D I’m Ave, pronouns are she/they, and I’ll be attempting to speedrun a 1k intro! I haven’t written one of these in a while, but I have nothing better to do (well. I have schoolwork I should be doing but that can wait
) And I have to warn you: this will not be very coherent. It’s not even late… but I am half asleep for some reason!
This will be my 10th session of SWC—I’ve been here a while, time flies, huh? And I have never been to IKEA, which I am constantly complaining about </33 I suppose that’s what I get for how I was always bragging about how I’ve been to a whole lot of LoTR filming locations last session—fun fact, all the movies were filmed in New Zealand! And I will never stop telling people that!
As for jokes, I cannot think of any off the top of my head, apart from terrible dad jokes. Which none of you will want to hear! So you’re not getting any jokes. Apologies </33
I also need to finish this soon, as I have other things I need to do before going to bed! So I am going to steal some of the questions people have given others. Because I love thievery >
My favourite genre to write in is most definitely fantasy, dystopian or sci-fi! Anything that’s not set in the real world. I just find it so much fun to worldbuild and create my own magic systems and civilisations. Those sorts of genres are also my favourite to read in—although I also like hi-fi, and thrillers and mysteries.
Earliest SWC memory is an interesting question. Um, getting sorted into Horror Carnival July ‘21? I remember being annoyed because I only joined halfway through the session because I’d been on holiday earlier, and I had forgotten that I’d signed up so I hadn’t counted all the words I’d written in the first half of July. I think I might’ve been a backup camper as well? I don’t remember, whoops. I actually have no idea how I found SWC in the first place, I just signed up for it because I liked writing and it looked interesting.
I have never really thought about what my favourite dinosaur would be. Maybe a pterodactyl? That’s the first one I can think of. Or maybe the spikey ones. Those are cute.
My favourite Taylor Swift album is evermore. I’m not sure about song overall, but a current favourite has been WAOLOM—that’s my favourite from ttpd! As for tour, I have to say the eras tour, obviously—it’s just so iconic! My friend went to the reputation tour and I’m so jealous—I’ve actually never been to any concerts. I have seen musicals live though, and that’s so much better in my opinion ahaha. Around this time last year, I saw Hamilton when it came to New Zealand and that was an absolute blast! We ended up winning the ten dollar front row seats ticket lottery, so we actually ended up going twice because of that. It was incredible to see so close, the actors' energy and everything was absolutely amazing.
On the topic of musicals, I’m going to see Hadestown and Les Mis in London this year! I’m going to Europe for four weeks, and I’m so excited. I’ve seen Les Mis once before, and it was super cool.
I’m trying to think of what else I can ramble about—oh! My puppy! She’s a one year old tan and white border collie, and she’s currently on the floor chomping on her favourite toy, which happens to be a stuffed hot dog! We recently taught her weaving, and we’ve started to teach her jumping as well—it’s so much fun to teach her tricks, and she picks things up really quickly. Well, of course she does—she’s a border collie, after all. That means she’s smart and likes to chase things.
I have to go like really soon so I am going to speedrun the last few hundred words as if this was a word war! I have three minutes to write as many words as possible, what else can i ramble about um horses! I go to the stables twice a week, and on saturday i caught a peacock stealing the horses hay red handed. It was very rude of him. He’s a very bedraggled peacock sometimes, but sometimes he does the fancy tail thing that peacocks do. He likes to eat chips, sometimes we feed them to him.
Back to rambling about the dog! She’s just chilling right now but sometimes she runs around, she has a squeaky snake toy. It’s green and fluffy and it squeaks and its like a metre long, and she runs around and jumps in circles and the toy swings around and hits things and she thinks its so much fun. Her favourite thing is to play fetch and she will not stop giving me her ball just in case i throw it for her. She loves to play with her toys and to run around. She loves to splash in the river, but she refuses to swim properly, only splash. She doesn’t like going out of her depth, even if we throw a stick for her. She went to the beach the other day and we threw a stick for her there, and she had so much fun but she got very muddy and sandy and dirty and the sand got all over her white fluff which was not good! She actually met her childhood best fried at the beach, they were best friends when they were puppies because they went to the same puppy school. They love to play together but sometimes they go a bit crazy. She loves to lick peoples feet and peoples faces and sometimes she jumps up on people tp try to lick their faces, but we are trying to train her not to jump on people because that’s not very nice. She actually passed her domestic obedience exam recently, which was great.

No, I love cats.
anyway, I go by he/they pronouns at the moment, and that might change later this month, but its been quite consistent for the last few months, so maybe…
anyway, continuing on, I like mangoes, duh, blueberries, strawberries, grapes… *tries to remember other fruit names* … cherries! raspberries, blackberries, actually it might just be faster to name fruits I don't like. I don't like kiwis. anyway, I play the flute and I sing. I like all types of music, minus like pop, and rock, and stuff and yo know what, forget it.
wait this might not be too bad, how many words am I at?
216? that's it?! never mind, this is harder than it looks. but I'm at 1241 characters! if only I could use that.
anyway, so I went to the different cabins, found their vibe, what they want and what they hate, and then got them a cat with that vibe.
Im gonna go find names for those cats in order for them to have cute names.
gem names
one sec.

Bi-fi - the minion theme! <3 I CAN'T- ITS SO AMAZING!! I actually haven't watched all the movies and stuff, but I've seen stuff from different movies here and there and I just love minions and it's really cute and it's adorable and I'm recreating myself. recreating? I meant repeating.
dystopian- ok- that sinking city waves thing is really cool and I love the whole idea behind it. I signed up for this cabin and didn't get it, but, the slight mystery about it and the amazing waves thrashing!! and the fact that the city is sinking and you have to get out, it sounds like the plot of a novel. a mystery novel that won't end well… it is amazing!
quick words check: 638.
fantasy - chocolate shop <333!! I actually hate chocolate, but that's a different thing. anyway, the whole concept of starting a chocolate shop and it just sounds so wholesome and sweet (pun intended). I can't though its too amazing.
folklore - oh this whole idea of video game code and stuff is basically this generation, lol. anyway, it doesn't seem anything like I would ever do, my crippling social anxiety and introvert stuff. but the whole idea is something I would one hundred percent do. anyway, the idea that something going strange with the code and stuff is so interesting and I wish I had signed up for it.
gothic - oh my gosh- I love the theme so so so so so much!! <333!! the whole hauntings at the academy thing is so cool! it has a whole horrorish mystery thing along with it and- omg!!! I signed up for this too and didn't get it, but yeah. it would be so cool for an actual ghost to appear in the plot or something!
horror - Alright! THIS IS MY CABIN LETS GO! #HORROR FTW!! anyway, the whole artificial life plot and the hiding information and how monotone changes stuff and then like curiosity- oh I want to know more. and omg omg omg omg whyyyy is it actually so cool I am so invested in it.
mystery - mystery Market eh? how you can't leave the Market and stuff. I want to know what you can find at the market and why it you can't leave! oh. I guess this is why its called master market…
non-fi - nothing to say. I don't like non-fiction and parliament things so yeah. it kinda cool tho.
poetry - the castle hiding and prophecies and how its shattered. I want to know why prophecies are shattered and stuff. and I signed up for this too, and obviously, didn't get it and yeah.

Hello! I’m Hope (they/them pronouns) and I guess this is my introduction? This is about to give you so much second-hand embarrassment if you’re reading this; you have been warned.
This is probably around my fifth or sixth session of SWC – I don’t really keep track of these things (I should), so that rough estimate will have to do for now. I’m hoping that this session I’ll actually be able to reach my tiny word goal of 5k words, and fix my severe procrastination which seems to always hit whenever a camp starts. It’s also my first time in mystery, and I’m so excited – I absolutely love the storyline, so thank you mystery leaders!
On the topic of writing: I definitely need to do more. I think I need to work on my self-discipline and actually finish one of my many projects of which I have written two paragraphs and then abandoned. Of course, like most SWCers, I have the goal of writing my own novel, but it’s going to take a lot of work to get there, if I ever do. Maybe I could start by actually finding an idea I like and sticking to it, for a start.
And it wouldn’t be a SWC intro without talking about reading. I absolutely love reading; it’s probably one of my favourite hobbies, and I know it’s been oversaid so many times, but there is something truly magical about getting immersed into a good book. I read from many genres, but some of my favourites would probably be science and maths non-fiction, urban or low fantasy, and historical fiction. I have far too many favourite books to list them all, but some books which I have read and enjoyed lately include The Song of Achilles, Babel, The Picture of Dorian Grey, and Mapmatics. Of course, I also have to mention the Six of Crows series too. It’s almost a tradition at this point, but for good reason – it’s possibly the best book series I’ve ever read, although I’m always open to discovering new books, so if you have any recommendations, go ahead! If anyone is in want of a new book to read, I can also hopefully recommend some.
I also really love music – listening, playing, and creating it. I play the clarinet and piano, and I’m actually part of a county youth orchestra – we’re currently playing Mahler 1, which is definitely interesting, especially because I’m juggling clarinet 1, clarinet 3, and clarinet 4 parts, which also comes with the added bonus of playing the about-to-fall-to-pieces bass clarinet that the orchestra has. Yay. On the other hand, I’m part of a rock band with my friends, and we cover songs from Coldplay to Arctic Monkeys and everything in between. I play bass in the band (spoiler: no, I don’t actually know how to play bass.) and although it is a learning curve, I think I’m improving. Or, I certainly hope I am.
I’m the type of person to only listen to a select few artists at a time, and currently it’s a mix between Radiohead, The Smiths, and Arctic Monkeys. My favourite genre has always been rock, as you can probably tell. I absolutely love Radiohead, which probably already tells you more about me than this entire introduction. My favourite albums are probably their middle ones, from The Bends to Amnesiac, although A Moon Shaped Pool is also great, and there are some underrated songs from Pablo Honey (cough cough, Blow Out). If you couldn’t tell, I’m not a big fan of The King of Limbs. There are some great songs from that album, but the entire thing just doesn’t really resonate with me at all. On the other hand, Amnesiac, OK Computer, and The Bends have some of my favourite Radiohead songs, like Black Star, Exit Music (For a Film), and Knives Out, to name only a few. Anyway, enough waffling about Radiohead, for a minute there I lost myself (no, I couldn’t resist slipping in a Paranoid Android reference). I mean, if you want to talk anything Radiohead, I’m absolutely here to listen!
I’d probably say that I’m your average weird and nerdy teenager, in a nutshell. For reference, when I was seven I read the entirety of my dad’s car manual because I could, and I think that’s pretty weird, if not nerdy, although I don’t even have a particular interest in cars. I’m currently learning CFOP for speedcubing since I got back into it quite recently. My personal best time is abysmal though, I think it’s somewhere around one minute with beginner’s method, and that was years ago. After taking a break from it, my skills have definitely diminished. I also play a bit of chess, although none of my friends play it, so I mainly just play it online or do chess puzzles now. Another weird thing I do is Minecraft speedrunning. I first got into it when I became fascinated with all the ways that speedrunners optimise their gameplay, and although I still have a long way to go, I hope for a sub-15 run one day.
Finally, I really love all things science and maths. Although I’m not very knowledgeable at science (yet), I’m really fascinated with it, and hopefully I can keep learning more! I also love maths, and I recently did a team maths challenge with three other people from my school. We came second out of 21 schools, which I think is quite impressive, especially as there are so many private schools in the area where the competition was held, and as a public school, I don’t think we were expecting a result that good, pfft. It was really quite enjoyable, and there were some really tricky questions that required quite a bit of thought (if anyone has ever done a UKMT maths challenge, there’s three rounds that are basically just variations on those styles of questions).
I have too many jokes saved to my P¡nterest too, so:
Which country’s capital has the fastest growing population?
Ireland. Every day it’s Dublin.
Anyway, that’s quite enough waffle for now. Enjoy SWC, and goodbye from me!

Hey everyone! Welcome to my 1K intro that I tried for fun, then got carried away with! This SWC, my goal is to improve my writing and do as many dailies/weeklies as I can. I'm aware this doesn't count for points, as I'm part of TCTWNW, but I wanted to try this for fun
And here we are.
Cabin - Thriller (TCTWNW)
Date - 2024-07-01
Words - 1,374
You’re wandering through the furniture section when you hear someone humming along to some Latin choral music. Trying to ignore it, you put your headphones on and try to ignore that incessant humming.
As you look through some of the showrooms, you feel someone hit you on the side. “Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry!” A voice says. You look around and you see a young girl. Everything is a blur as she drops to the floor, picking up scattered pieces of paper and her phone. All you could see was some long black hair, a denim jacket, and denim jeans. “I didn’t see you there.”
“No worries,” you reply.
“Did I hurt you, or anything?” the girl asks, standing back up, a look of concern on her face.
“No, no, I’m fine,” you reply. “But thanks for your concern.”
The girl looked relieved at having not hurt you. “I’m really sorry to bother you, but do you know where the adjustable height tables are? I’m looking for one for my room.”
You had just passed them a few minutes earlier. “Sure. I’ll show you where they are, if you’d like,”
“Thank you so much!” The girl says. “I’m Skylar, by the way, it’s nice to meet you.”
“It’s nice to meet you too.” You reply, as you begin leading Skylar towards the place with the adjustable tables. “So, why do you need an adjustable table anyway?”
“Oh, my desk in my room back home is too low for me, so I need an adjustable one. Also so I can get to my whiteboard where I write a bunch of information about my exams,” Skylar replies.
“Good luck on your exams then,” you offer, hoping they go well.
“Oh, they actually finished for me about two and a half weeks ago, but thank you,” she corrects. “I have a lot more public exams coming up in the future - I’m fifteen, almost sixteen now, and I head off to sixth form college in September,”
“Sixth form college?” you ask, confused.
“Oh- right, apologies. I often forget that most people don’t live in the UK, where I’m from - well, actually I’m Chinese by descent - and therefore don’t understand the school system.” Skylar apologises. “But it’s basically like America’s junior and senior high school years. I take public examinations at the end of the two years. So I’m actually currently on holiday right now,”
“How are you spending it?” You ask, genuinely curious.
“Well, here, for starters. I'm going on a music tour pretty soon - we’re going to Europe, which will be super fun, and then I’m probably going to spend the rest of it with my friends, and work on writing some stories set in a city called Sunshine Bay that Hope and I have been working on for two years now.” Skylar says, her voice becoming faster as she continues to talk. She pauses. “Do I talk too fast? I’m sorry, people often say I talk fast when I’m excited and it’s a struggle for me to slow down,”
You do feel as if she’s talking too fast for you to understand. Nervously you say, “Uh, yeah… a little slower would be nice please,”
“Of course,” Skylar grins, slowing the pace down. “What else do you want to know about me? I could talk all day if I wanted to,”
“Uhm, okay. What music do you listen to?” You ask.
“Well, I mainly listen to Taylor Swift and Owl City, but I also listen to a lot of Christian worship music. Did I mention that I’m Christian? No, I don’t think so,” Skylar replies.
“Nice,” you reply. “Um, anyways, do you have any favourite songs?”
“Yeah, absolutely!” Skylar replies. “I could literally go on about them for ages. But I’ll give you the highlights! From Taylor Swift, I love Message in a Bottle, New Romantics, Treacherous, Starlight, State of Grace, You Are In Love - I mean, my favourite albums by her are Red and 1989. As for Owl City, it’s Fireflies, Shooting Star, On The Wing, Hello Seattle, and Tokyo! For me, I just really like worship music in general and don’t really have favourites,”
“What about movies or TV Shows?” You ask.
“I don’t really watch movies or TV shows that much, but as of right now, my favourite movie has and always will be The Martian, and my favourite TV shows often change. I’m really into medical dramas right now, and just medical documentaries really, and one of my favourites is the first two seasons of New Amsterdam. Oh, and I also love The Big Bang Theory and Brooklyn Nine Nine.” Skylar begins to ramble, talking about her favourite parts from each TV show and movie, and it began to feel like it was going on for quite a while.
“Okay, woah- you can stop there, you know?” You interrupt, a bit scared of doing it, but it was clear that Skylar would pretty much ramble unchecked if you didn’t interrupt.
“Oh- I’m so sorry, I just normally ramble on forever and ever, so I’m sorry about that,” Skylar replies, grimacing. “I am really, really, sorry.”
“Okay, uh, what about your favourite books?” you ask.
“I don’t really have any. I’ve been in a reading slump for several years now, but I am so glad I don’t have to take English Literature or Language anymore!” Skylar replies. At first her expression is sad, but it quickly changes to happiness after mentions of no more English Literature or Language. “Those lessons were absolute torture, even though my teacher was really nice. I just don’t like either.”
“Oh. I mean, I would have thought, just that you’re in a writing camp, you’d enjoy English,” You say, a little embarrassed at the misconception.
“I enjoy creative writing, telling stories, and making those stories into a series for other people to watch, I just don’t enjoy the way school taught me English. I also only get to take three or four subjects next year, and I sure wasn’t going to take English, despite my mum’s insistence.” Skylar adds.
“What subjects are you taking, then?” you ask.
“Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and hopefully Physics, if I can get that during course clearing in August,” Skylar replies. “I’m not too sure about my results yet, but I’m aiming for As and A Stars.”
“Are you into science?” You ask.
“A lot, actually,” Skylar replies. “I’d go as far as to call myself a nerd. I’m really hoping for a career in healthcare, but I don’t want to be a doctor. Too much study and work. And if that doesn’t work out, Engineering is my second choice.”
“That sounds really interesting,” you reply.
“Yeah. Also, a lot of what I’m interested in projects into what I’m writing, which is why I’ve been writing a lot of medical fiction recently. I don’t really like talking about them, as things can get kind of gruesome, and I also bottom out on motivation all the time.” Skylar continues talking. “I used to very much be into sci-fi stories, but now I just like setting stories in a normal, everyday universe - for me, that’s Sunshine Bay.”
“What other things are you interested in?” You ask.
“Oh, uh, well. Cubing, I do a lot of that. Art, music. I play violin and piano, and I sing as well. I love board and card games, but since I’m an only child, there’s not really much I can play. I’m also terrible at organising my room, so there’s that?” Skylar tries.
“Those seem like really fun activities,” you comment nonchalantly. “You also seem pretty extraverted - do you know any good jokes?”
“Extraverted? Oh, no,” Skylar replies. “I’m often more introverted and shy when it comes to meeting new people. And I’m terrible at jokes, might I add? Honestly, I can’t be-LEAF that you’re even asking me that,”
“Sure, sure,” You grin. Turning a corner, you could see the section with all the adjustable tables. “Well, here you are!”
“Thank you so much! It was really nice meeting you, too,” Skylar replies. “I’ll see you around then?”
“See you around,” you say, as you head back in the direction you came from.

“See you around,” you say, as you head back in the direction you came from.

guys i'm doing it. i'm doing the 1k word intro if it kills me let's go
. . . 264 words plus i got blocked like right after writing it dang
Hiiiiii, I'm Silk, they/it! My apologies for any lack of activity this summer as I will be in CHINA and also happen to currently reside in those pits of heII reserved for Countryhumans fans who are also history/politics enthusiasts and so understand just exactly how inaccurate their writing is. If I don't come back after July, it's because the Chinese government has disappeared me for writing NorChi on my phone in public (I CAN MAKE THIS JOKE I'M CHINESE)(BTW MY ARCHIVE USER IS @inkk_splatters, don't mind the shameless self-promo haha).
An annoying amount of my writing deals with family issues and parental trauma, to the point that the DM of an irl D&D campaign I'm in has had to expressly forbid me from creating any characters with any remotely parental-related trauma. It's unfortunate, but I'm hoping to work on that during this session of SWC. Another thing I'm working on in my writing is being more descriptive, not simply leaving big gaps for readers' intuition to bridge.
Outside of writing ONLY SLIGHTLY trashy gay fanfic, I'm working on a novel, The Night Will Never Be Silent, and I enjoy fencing (SABRE SUPREMACYYYYY) even when it gives me joint problems that make me walk like an old geriatric senior citizen. I also have an interest in voice acting, and yes, I am a theater kid.
Aside from that, I am, in fact, capable of assembling IKEA furniture, or would be if I weren't skinny and weak. Potential connection of this to my mystical test-taking powers not confirmed. Hail Blahaj and happy SWC summer!

Daily July 1st: more formatting later!
Hi there, I’m fae (she/any), an ageing artefact of SWC in both age and sessions taken part in. This July will mark my 9th session, with my first being in November of 2020. Since then, I’ve been part of the leadership team, worked as a writing competition panelist, and helped out with daily activities and workshops, all of which have been absolutely wonderful experiences that I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy. In terms of cabins, I’ve taken part in various roles in sci-fi, dystopian, real-fi,script,mystery,and lit-fi, with a number of double-ups along the way. This session, I’m continuing my cabin bingo and camper-ing in the amazing Non-fi cabin/ non-fi parliament under the leadership of finley, may, soki and willow. Despite having never been in the cabin, my favourite genre is (without question) hi-fi, to both read and write in - there is something so moving and important about the stories that explore the lives of those who lived before our current time, and so much to be learned and gained from the reading of those works. If you’ve seen any of my previous writing comp entries you’ll know that it’s a bit of a reoccurring theme in my submissions to write in the hi-fi genre. With that in mind, it’s probably no surprise that my favourite novels all fall under the umbrella of hi-f; these include Song of Achilles, all the light we cannot see, and a thousand splendid suns - I absolutely adore these books and if you’ve read them I’d love to discuss! In regards to other favourites, my favourite artists music-wise are Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, and boygenius, my favourite food is any sort of stir fry, and my favourite season is autumn. Hobbies-wise, I enjoy debating, swimming, baking, photography, learning a variety of instruments including clarinet, guitar and ukulele, and learning languages! That’s all from me - I’m looking forward to a wonderful session ahead and getting to know some new faces <3
Daily #2
To the future fae;
It’s certainly been a different and memorable start to this session, and travelling has certainly lent you a new appreciation of many things - what can be described as the awe of nature, culture, and cuisines, but also personal space and time, which have been notably lacking in the past few weeks. Nevertheless, I hope you use this opportunity as time to take a break from the tightly scheduled schoolwork, undust your writing implements and perhaps take some inspiration from the scenes around you. This session, you’ve been sorted into the wonderful non-fi cabin, running with the central theme of parliament and debate, which is something you’re particularly thrilled about, having debated for the past 4 years. In saying that - I hope that this session you can take some time to participate in the in-cabin activities, and particularly the debating opportunities which I know will be an enjoyable experience for you. In terms of goals for July, I know that schoolwork will be demanding and plentiful, so I don’t want to burden you with my expectations, but I hope that you can submit a writing competition entry, and that it is something that you’re proud of, that you can complete at least seven dailies, and if you’re feeling ambitious, perhaps a weekly. Most of all, I hope you enjoy this session, and you have all your past times, forge new friendships, and work towards improving your writing <3
That’s all, and signing of from the current (or past, depending on how you look at it), you.
Daily #4
- I passionately dislike this piece - it was incredibly rushed and rusty, and didn’t do the merry go-round of life justice. Nevertheless it’s done, so it will do.
“She doesn’t remember”, “be gentle” and “first impressions” - accompanied with a shuttered eyelid. Words have been ferried around my head for weeks, wearing pathways through a collection of impulses that reach out to touch the absence of you.
Bluebird -
How do I begin? With your eyes still closed, body still tethered to machine, tapestries of tubes threading stitches through skin?
I know you don’t remember, I know you don’t hear - but if I curate the collection of words before you wake, picking memories like daisies for your bouquet, maybe we can find a way to restring the chain between us.
Rin, it was spring. Hands pressed in hands, fingers laced and lockets traded, tumbling from the schoolyard with the promise of on the breeze May a sweet syrup on our tongues. Afternoons like taffy, golden and stretching long enough until dusk poked through the thinly covered sky with pickled stars. You constructed castles and fabricated forms from the haze of clouds fastened in the sky; you named the flowers as I wove them into your crown, and for that, you earned a devotion only a children could give.
Then, it was Autumn. No longer wistful-eyed children, but the strung-out in-between of teenage years. Your heart breaks (I hated him anyway), but I loved you too much to say - You don’t remember him so I’m sure it doesn’t hurt to hurl this stone now, but then, your fragile glass heart was stretched and ready to splinter with the pressure of moulding new forms that we were to inhabit for the rest of our lives.
Once, it was summer - a car trip that lead to a confession. The windows were down, your music was loud, and between beats, rotations of the wheels, I untied my tongue to whisper of the bird that had rattled around my heart for years. That had flown for you.
Now it is winter, and you don’t remember, but you always hated the way the snow beat down and bruised the stalks of the flowers. You don’t remember, but the morning birds you loved are in mourning, and don’t sing as the sun rises so late in the frigid sky. You don’t remember the conversations about stars, hurtling towards the curb in your car, you don’t remember the red-tinted lights and the hands that stitched you back together.
But Rin, it’s coming Spring, so please, remember.

~ SWC Daily(?) 655 words Intro July 1st 2024 ~
Hi! I’m Lirey, I use He/Him but if you mess them up that’s completely fine, I don’t mind! I don’t like talking/writing about myself very much for personal reasons, but I can include some of my minor hobbies and other small details.
I don’t really have a goal for SWC? I love to worldbuild, so I’m hoping I can expand on the lore I have for this series I’ve been doing for scratch (Been developing it for around 6 years at this point) This is my first time however, so I’m still getting the feel for it- I really just want to have fun and make friends though (Feel free to talk to me on my profile! I don’t bite and know about a lot of fandoms, love hearing people ramble).
For hobbies I’m kind of boring, I like to animate, sketch, read, and write. I also like playing video games- Don’t really have a favorite one though; although I do obsess over Yokai-Watch quite often. I’m not much into TV shows or movies, although I’m always willing to talk about them! I’ve been animating for over 6 years now, and have been coding for a little over 8 years. My profile has mostly animations shared as I keep my coding projects to myself. I also have been drawing most of my life, but I don’t like considering that something I’m into as I have no desire to actually improve myself in that area or grow in any sort of meaningful way.
For things I read, I’m mostly into Sci-Fi, but I also have no idea how to categorize these types of things, I think I only ever read Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I’ve read almost all of Wings of Fire, and the first part of Warriors? I read a lot more manga/comics and the most notable ones I’ve read to completion are Dragon Ball (All of Dragon Ball, I’ve read Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball Super. I have yet to read Jaco the Galactic Patrolman or any other smaller spin-off), Naruto, and Bleach. I also write but that’s also pretty small and hope to expand on it with SWC.
I feel like I should also share smaller, more exciting, facts about myself? My favorite color is magenta and my favorite animal is the immortal jellyfish, or an aardvark. I don’t really like thinking about things in a deep manner or ‘reading between the lines’ I definitely have the ability too, I just tend to not, so my writing or preferences aren’t very deep or well thought out, I just like things because I like things. I don’t try to keep up an aesthetic or a theme to follow.
I like food, I feel like that’s something silly I could talk about. My favorite has to be nachos or burgers, they’re pretty much tied for 1st place. I’m not much for condiments though, and definitely can’t describe how foods taste (To me, sour and spicy are pretty much the same thing). For my joke, my humor is sadly very situational so I tend not to keep jokes that work in any context. Here’s a bit of a basic joke-
A biologist, an engineer, and a mathematician are idling outside an empty building. Soon they see two people walk into the building, and later three people walk out.
The biologist says, “Oh, they must have reproduced.”
The engineer says, “Our original presumption must have been wrong.”
There was a pause before the mathematician remarks, “If another person walks into that building, it’ll be empty again”
I think I’ll stop writing here at a little over 600 words. I hope (If you read this) that you enjoyed my little tangent! If you’ve read this, or just skipped to the end, I hope you all have a fantastic day, and if you ever wanna ramble or just talk to someone, I’m always here!

The boy stumbled along the gravel path, tears streaming down his flushed cheeks, sniffling. He buried himself in a corner by a drooping tree and put his head in his hands. Depression and grief glinted in his eyes and he breathed in shakily.
A severe-looking woman marched through the garden, her shiny hard boot slapping the ground furiously.
“Alfred! Alfred!” She shouted angrily, waving a piece of paper in the air ferociously, her lips straight and thin, her fists clenched to a ghostly white.
Alfie huddled his small form into a nearby bush, twigs scratching him roughly on the cheeks, specks of blood peppering his hands. He gulped and swallowed down a lump of fear as she strutted past him as he urged himself further into the bush. Instantly, she twisted round and stared Alfie write in the eyes.
“Alfred. Come here immediately.” She ordered coldly.
Alfie poked his head out of the bush anxiously, his brow furrowed and lines creasing his forehead.
“What do you call this? Hm?”
Alfie’s lip wobbled.
“I-I thought you might like it…” He trailed off worriedly.
“Your little song? Why would I want to read a stupid toddler’s song? You should behave like a man, not a baby. Stop crying, you insolent useless child! Only babies cry. I’m putting you into the cupboard tonight. That should teach you to behave properly. Now be quiet! That racket has kept me up all night!” She cried indignantly.
A young man walked through the trees, his slicked-back hair shining in the dappled sunlight.
“He’s only 3, Mama.” He said gently. “Don’t be too hard on him.”
Her face hardened even more and she held up her head.
“Did I give permission for you to speak, Oliver?” She asked bitterly. “And did you slick back your hair? I expected better from you. Both of you. Now go. Leave me alone. I have rough on my hands without you two brats getting in my way.”
Oliver took Alfie’s little hand in his and led him out of the way of his cruel mother.
As they left, the sky began to weep as well, raindrops hammering down onto the parched ground, mirroring Alfie and Oliver sorrow.

High above the angry waves, crashing ferociously onto the rugged cliffs, a kingdom lay, nestled amongst a heap of fluffy clouds. You could just see the tip of a golden spire poking out and a colossal dragon head, created with twists of silver and ruby and gold craning its neck from inside the bustling haven. The markets were crammed with fruits of all size and colour, a bulging yellow melon, a juicy emerald watermelon, a luscious amber mango. Along with this there were endless arrays of spices, set up like a shimmering rainbow in the main square and herbs, a gift from the emperor himself. People were pushing and shoving to get their share of this rare sight, one of his own secret herbs now revealed in public. He called it ‘Sile.’ It was said to have ultimate healing powers.
A decade later, the emperor stepped out from his glittering palace, swathed in a sapphire cloak, his dark eyebrows raised questioningly as a beggar fell at his feet. He simply kicked him away, the beggar falling unconscious by the side of the street. He was older now, and it was time to put his plan into action. Sile was a regularly used herb and often seen in pharmacies and chemists. But what they didn’t know, if triggered, there was a poison that wasn’t just fatal, but its terrible suffering could last for days. The emperor had been too scared before, but… now he was ready.
“People of our Kingdom on High. Today I have an announcement to make.”
A hushed silence fell over the crowd as he ascended a stone staircase to a balcony looking over them all.
“I have made an important discovery to reveal. I shall tell you in one word. Poison.”
With that he pulled back a lever and a gas was released into the atmosphere that was harmless to most people. But he had found out that sile reacted extremely well to this substance (or well for him anyway). Almost immediately people clutched their stomachs and gazed up at the emperor desperately. Cries of ‘Help us, help us!’ echoed throughout the square, but he simply stood there and smiled softly.
Now the city square was bare and barren, not a single memory of the place it once was. Far in the distance, slaves could be seen hacking at the edge of the cliffs, uncovering mounds of gold buried deep within the chalk. Their faces were red and flushed, sweat pouring down the sides of their foreheads. Any past citizens were long gone, and the king lived a rich, spoilt life, showered with treasures and gifts, a fierce army guarding him from a danger that may befall, stationed on top of the cloud on little wooden platforms. Their faces were completely covered with hard shiny metal apart from their cold glinting eyes and their arms creaked when they moved. The emperor had ordered for any signs of nature to be removed, and now the once magical kingdom was a desert, all the houses knocked down, piles of rubble scattering the landscape. Standing on his balcony, the emperor could see further than his kingdom lasted, through the stormy furious clouds and blinding forks of lighting to a rival kingdom at the very edge of his view.
In hiding, the beggar uncurled from his uncomfortable position. He rubbed his hip, which, even though it had been twenty years, still hurt. He recalled the harrowing pain with tears in his eyes. He blinked them away. He had work to do. He remembered waking up under piles of rocks, slipping in and out of unconsciousness. They must have thought him dead. After twenty years of scavenging and endless travelling, he had managed to find his way back to his old home. This beggar wanted revenge. He reached into his pocket and pulled out an hourglass. He had to be back before it ran out. He had broken into the heavily guarded palace via an old entrance now blocked by rubble and had spent weeks hammering at the stiff rock before injecting sile into the emperor’s food. He knew an alarm would go off in the palace the moment the guards noticed anything wrong. Still, he wanted to see the emperor that had treated him so cruelly suffer what so many others had.
Nestled in an alcove, the beggar eagerly followed every movement the emperor made as he entered and made to sit down. He delicately picked up his knife and fork, then began to eat. The chicken lay untouched till the very end of the meal when he licked his lips and ripped off a chunk with his greedy hands and stuffed it into his mouth. His eyes bulged and he gasped for breath. The beggar unfurled himself. He had to go now. The guards knew something was very wrong.
The beggar stumbled back to his hiding place just to find the last grain of sand trickle through the hourglass. He sighed in relief. The ‘Kingdom on High’ had certainly changed, and would continue to do so for many years to come…

Dear Future Me,
As I am writing this, I am wondering, have you managed to achieve all of those goals I set myself at the beginning of this session (right now for me actually). Are you more confident in songwriting now? I sure do hope you are because I am absolutely AWFUL at it right now lol Are you rocking that Horror pfp? Did we come 1st on the leaderboard? I hope we did hehe
I was also curious about how the school play went. Rehearsals honestly aren’t going too well right now
Hopefully now you’ll be relaxing next to a pool in the lovely sunny South of France or on the boiling sand by the sparkling blue Mediterranean! I hope you’re excited for high school! I’m quite nervous right now! Did you get a good mark on SATs? Did you finally manage to get enough motivation to finish that story you were planning on writing? I hope you’ve learnt how to crochet and got a prize in the writing competition.
Most of all, I hope you’ve made some more friends at high school at the Year 7 picnic and got to know your way around! I can’t wait to find out what happens this month! Goodbye and best regards from…
Yourself!
P.S. Stop procrastinating!

Hey everyone, it’s me, Silvi! After 3 wonderful sessions so far with SWC, I cannot wait to get this one started, meet all the newbies and start getting back into writing and rushing to get on my laptop in the morning. So far I’ve been in Tragedy, Steampunk and Hi-fi, and now Horror! I hope that we all have a horrifically exciting time whether it's trading mangoes or just being generally stressed out during cabin wars.
Ok, so I’m from the UTC timezone in wonderful rainy Britain ( it’s currently overcast right now and was raining early; happy summer!) I’m 11 years old and moving up to high school this September (:0) which is making me quite nervous but also very excited. I go by she/her pronouns. I’m excited to get to know everyone in my cabin and everyone outside of it. This will mark my 4th session and 1 year of SWC
To start off, I love music. I’m working towards Grade 4 on flute and I’ve just started piano, and I also love just listening to random music. In high school, I’m super excited to join the choir and the orchestra and to start my new lessons. I’m hoping to start getting piano lessons as well, as I’m teaching myself (which is really hard) and even though I can sort of read bass clef as well as treble, I need someone to help me.
My favourite food is probably tacos, but I also love curry and ramen. Soon I would like to get more into cooking and see what it’s like, as I love baking as well. It will probably be a useful skill as well, not just for my adult life, but for my Guides group. That’s another big part of my life. Guides! I’m super excited for my first ever time sleeping in a tent and for all the lovely trips they organise. Yesterday we went to a library for a sleepover and I am really tired ;(
My favourite subject at school is probably art because it’s really relaxing and I love drawing. Generally I like to draw nature - flowers, landscapes with trees and plants, birds, woodland creatures, but I’ve also started to develop my own style with drawing people as well. I can’t wait to get started on my second canvas ever and get to terms with oil and acrylic painting a bit more. Despite this, I prefer to draw using pencils and then sometimes colouring it, but I’m not very good at watercolour painting.
I also love it when we do history as well, not just because it’s interesting, but it helps a lot with my writing as well, as I enjoy writing hi-fi. Along with this, my favourite subjects to write are poetry, fantasy and tragedy. I don’t know why, but in writing I always like to have a sad ending which is kinda weird, I know. I’ve been published a few times (not books of course, just excerpts) in competitions from a website called ‘Young Writers.’ For reading I love thriller and action, as well as dystopian, hi-fi and fantasy. I wish I could write thriller and action well, but I just find it hard to get a really fast pace and a clever enough plot, so I just read loads of it. I love the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz (which I highly recommend) the Murder Most Unladylike series by Robin Stevens (which is also amazing) the Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier and Once by Morris Gleitzman (both of which are incredible but ‘Once’ is extremely sad and I’m not allowed to read the rest of that series because apparently it’s too sad so I maybe wouldn’t recommend this as much). Soon I need to read Lord of the Rings as everyone has read it apart from me. I’m gonna borrow them from my granddad (why did I not think of this before???) and then I’m gnna watch them and then I’ll understand what everyone’s on about (hopefully lol).
And my last favourite subject is probably sport. At school I’m on the football team, I’ve played squash at my local sports club and I used to do swimming lessons (until they made us do 40 lengths in 1 session xD). Right now, because I’m in primary school, we do really full-on sports and most of the time we just stand around and chat, but that’s kinda fun as well as the actual sports. However, we have a new sports coach, and we’ve started to do much more sport, and a kid in my school even got invited to the junior academy for our local football team (who got promoted to Premier League a while ago *screams*) but in high school it will be waaaaay more full-on.
Soon I would like to learn how to crochet but I’ve tried this a few times and it’s really hard, but I’m gonna learn after I’ve come back from my holiday. I’ve also started to learn embroidery which is much easier, and I’m currently working on my first hoop, but I would (when I’m more experienced) start on embroidery things onto my clothes, like flowers and hearts and so on. However, that day is probably not gonna come for a very long time hehe.
My most prominent (and ambitious) dream is to publish a book that isn’t online at least once, but I would love to become a full-on well-known author. I know that this is very unlikely as they take ages to write, they’re hard to get money from unless you’re more well-known and hard to get published as well. However, I still want to publish at least 1 book and SWC has really inspired me to do this as I’ve seen people on scratch talking about the books they’ve published online, and they’re not even adults!
Finally, nearly at the end! I can’t believe I actually managed to finish this (usually I struggle talking about myself in 100 words). To finish off with, a riddle from my friend, who tries to catch me out on this one every time (let’s see if you do!) It’s quite easy
In a bungalow, the walls are yellow, the carpet is yellow, the sofas are yellow, the people are yellow! What colour are the stairs?
- scroll down for the answer!
There aren’t any stairs - it’s a bungalow!
For today's daily, search up and listen to an instrumental song – maybe it's a classical song, or perhaps it's a more modern song. Think about the mood and atmosphere the song is trying to portray. After you listen to a portion of or the entire song, write a story of 300 words inspired by the mood of the song for 200 points! An additional 100 points if you share the song-inspired story you wrote!

Hiii, I'm El, this is my fifth time participating swc (horror ftw!!) and I couldn't be more excited. My pronouns are i/d/c because I'm going through a crisis right now and I'm currently in 7th grade. Some of my hobbies include; drawing, writing, editing and reading. Some of my interests are Neon Genesis Evangelion (if you haven't seen it this is your sign), Resident Evil, She-Ra, Bungo Stray Dogs, and Nana. You'll usually find me with my headphones in listening to a large variety of music or rewatching Neon Genesis or Nana for the billionth time this week lol. For a joke to celebrate National Joke Day here's mine: I was trying to think of an Evangelion pun, but it was taking forEVA. Anyways, that's my intro, sorry it's lazyyy.

my exactly 1k intro!!!
Hello everyone! I’m September and I’m so excited to get to know you all! Why don’t we start with a little about me…
My favorite color is pink. I’ve always loved pink; it just makes everything feel so bright and cheerful!
I spent a good part of my day scrolling through pins, getting lost in all the “inspiration”. Sometimes that’s memes, watching cute craft tutorials, looking at cute outfits, and more! There's something so satisfying about sorting things into perfectly organized boards. Shopping is another one of my favorite things to do. I love to go to malls and just browse. And of course, eating is a big part of my life too. There’s nothing better than indulging in delicious food of course
I also love to watch some Netflix. Outer Banks and Gilmore Girls are my go-to shows when I need a pick-me-up. Right now, I’m hooked on How I Met Your Mother. It’s actually so funny. I can’t believe I didn’t start watching it sooner. I love to watch rom-com movies as well! Some faves include Twenty-seven Dresses, Thirteen Going on Thirty, and Mamma Mia.
Music is always playing in my life. Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, and Morgan Wallen are my current favorites. I’m also super excited because I have an AJR concert coming up! I can’t wait to experience their music live!! It’s a dream of mine to go to a Taylor concert. But, like many other sad Swifties, I definitely can’t afford that haha.
I’ve been reading a lot lately, mostly dystopian and fantasy novels. They’re my favorite genres because they allow me to escape to entirely new worlds. Crafting is another passion of mine. I love making bracelets; it's so relaxing and rewarding to see the finished product. I have piles of them everywhere and should probably find something better to do with them. Because I have to color coordinate them with my outfits I have a bunch of random ones.
Fall is such a great time for me because I run cross country. I’m not the fastest runner, but I love the social aspect and the amazing people I meet. Fall is also my favorite season. I love the little chill in the air and the trees are absolutely stunning!
In the spring, I switch gears and play soccer. It's a lot of fun, and I enjoy the teamwork and physical activity! I’ve been playing soccer for years and have made so many great friends and memories through tournaments and games.
One of my little joys is singing in the shower. It’s like my own private concert. I also love doing karaoke with friends. It’s always a blast, and we end up laughing so much!
Sometimes, I dream about living on the beach, with the sound of the waves and the salty air. I love to travel and hope to one day have a travel blog where I can share my experiences and all the amazing food from different cultures!!
For a quick bite, I often head to Chick-fil-A. It’s my favorite fast food. When I’m in the mood for pizza, nothing beats Mellow Mushroom. Their pizza is just the best. I’m a huge foodie though, and will eat pretty much anything. (Not seafood though. I hate seafood.)
I want to have a pet. Probably a puppy Australian Shepherd. I can picture us playing in the park, going for long walks, and cuddling up on the couch. Time to go see if I can convince my mom now hehe.
I also love to journal and scrapbook! It’s one of my weekend “I’m bored” activities. Making the pictures all pretty and organized is pretty entertaining.
Lately, I've been spending more time at the gym. It's a great way to stay active, and I enjoy the sense of accomplishment after a good workout. Whether it's running on the treadmill, lifting weights, or trying a new fitness class, going to the gym has become an important part of my routine.
Hiking is one of my favorite ways to connect with nature and find a sense of adventure. There’s something incredibly refreshing about lacing up my hiking boots, stepping onto a trail, and leaving behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I love to hike with friends. It’s a wonderful way to bond with others while exploring new trails together.
Now it is time for some fun facts about me since I’m running out of things to talk about! My siblings and I all have different eye colors! I have blue, my little brother has brown and my little sister has green! I’m the oldest of three as well. I am right handed and footed. I am an ESFJ-T. Do with that information what you will. I have no idea exactly what that means, but that’s chill I guess. My friend and I are actually writing a book (at 20k words at the moment) together and I’m hoping SWC will help me stay motivated for it! I have never been on an airplane but I want to travel out of the country so bad! Maybe Italy or France or Australia would be cool!
I’ve been going to Scratch Writing Camp for seven sessions now. It’s such a wonderful place to improve my writing skills and meet other super talented writers. I’m really looking forward to the next session in July. Writing has always been a passion of mine, and I can’t wait to dive back into it!!!
andddd last but not least; your joke for the daily!
Q: how do you make an octopus laugh?
A: give it ten tickles (tentacles)
I will also be reading other peoples 1k word intros to see if we can be friends. The answer will probably be yes because I can be friends with anyone since I am a very chatty person. So that’s a wrap for me today! If you managed to read this all please let me know because that is true dedication and I love you for it!
It’s always a blast, and we end up laughing so much!

eevee: i first decided to join swc back in march of 2021. i was a backup camper. i came across it when i viewed alyelle’s leader app for that session. i’m not sure what prodded me to join other than the fact that i wanted to be in her cabin (spoiler alert, i didn’t, i was in horror). but i don’t regret that decision one bit because i’ve had some of the best times of my life in this little online camp.
i wasn’t able to join in july due to summer device complications, but i joined back the next session in november in sci-fi. this eventually led me to apply for co in march ‘22. that was my first session as part of the leader-host team and it was a blast! that was such a chaotic session. marc mangoson, constant stream of inside jokes, and being part of an amazing leading team in contemporary.
i campered twice more between then and march ‘24 when i decided to try out for leader. leading fantasy with crim and stingray was unbelievable fulfilling and i loved being able to work on the leader team again. crafting experiences for campers and delving back into the swc community at an extreme was loads of fun!
i’m looking forward to campering again in july and what bi-fi has in store! minion mania is going to leave the other cabins in the dust~ i can’t wait to meet new people and get to writing.

this was another thing to at our mom signed us up for, but i’ve fallen in love with bowling <3 i love the community there and the people who have taught me. it’s a place for me to work on my own skills, while others are as well. bowling makes me happy and i love when thursdays come around because it means that i can bowl.writing:

storytelling is something that has always been a part of me. whether it was playing games with my siblings or coming up with stories to fill my free time, it’s something i’ve always loved. it’s something that i’m trying to figure out how to do my best at. there are so many styles and ways to write, but i’m enjoying my slow pace in figuring it out. i’m quite fond of poetry and have been spending more time writing poems lately, but i do love prose as well. swc has helped me immensely in sharpening my writing craft and i know that i still have a long way to go, but this community makes it so much more enjoyable.art:

i’ve loved art, but i never really got into it until the pandemic hit. that’s what it was for a lot of us, wasn’t it? picking up hobbies because of covid-19? this was mine. my style has never been consistent, but i’ve come a long way from anatomically incorrect anime faces. i’m figuring out how i want to express myself through my art and it’s a beautiful process <3reading:
- started since she’s been able to
- physical, ebook, audio, fanfiction
i wasn’t the kid that was forced to read, i was the kid who was threatened to have her books taken away if i didn’t clean. in a parallel to writing, i love being able to read the characters and worlds that others craft. there are so many styles and formats that you can write a book in and i find them so fascinating to play around with and take inspiration from others. lately, i’m been shifting more towards to fanfiction, as my brain craves the clintasha fluff and angst ahaha.staring at the ceiling:

sometimes you just need a break from everything and stare at the ceiling. the perfect blank canvas for you to look at when your thoughts are buzzing. it won’t judge you, it won’t embarrass you. really, it’s the perfect friend. /lh plus if there are textures, then that’s like. many hours of entertainment if you let your imagination go wild. i highly recommend.

1. Chuey's 1k Intro | 1000 words
You want to scream.
Not this again! You thought Chuey would have left behind all that silly second-person nonsense by this session. After all, this is her SWC anniversary! After a total of a year of SWC, surely she'd move on from these childish, oh-so-annoying writing habits…
But no. You're stuck. Forced to read, once again, an insufferably boring introduction about an insufferably boring person.
You sigh and begin reading.
Chuey, for obvious reasons, goes by Chuey. The nickname was unintentional but inevitable–after several Scratchers started calling her Chuey, she decided to roll with it, having never bothered to give herself a nickname. There wasn't much point, anyway. She only ever could have been Chuey, a name she's ended up liking almost as much as her real one. She even finds herself using when she talks to herself sometimes. Not that she does that a lot. Only nerds talk to themselves.
Yeah. Anyways.
Chuey has always wanted to be an author, ever since she was little. Books have always fascinated her, and she eats fiction like candy. It's only natural that her thoughts should turn to the pen. Or, in this case, the keyboard. She also briefly considered growing up and owning a thousand cats, but due to the severity of her allergies, the plan had to be dropped. The only path forward, it seems, is the way that leads to vivid conversations with imaginary folk and sleepless nights stressing over made-up politics. (No different from any politician, then.) In other words, Chuey's feet skip lightly towards insanity. That's okay. She was well on her way anyway.
Writing isn't her only hobby, however. She loves baking, drawing, and swimming, although she's merely tolerable in each and every one of these areas. Oh, and watching movies, especially old animated ones like Robin Hood and Howl's Moving Castle. She admits a passionate fondness for Lilo and Stitch and may or may not have memorized the entire thing. Chuey also roleplays (by writing) when the mood strikes her, especially during SWC, when she can use her mania for points to manipulate her procrastinating soul into action. Chuey really likes points. Like, a lot.
So what does Chuey do when she's not pursuing one of her interests? Most likely, she's doing her school reading (Chuey happens to be homeschooled), daydreaming, doing chores, eating, sleeping, or breathing. Especially breathing. She does that a lot. She could also be playing piano, singing in the shower (terribly off-key when she hits the high notes, I'm afraid to say), doing math, hanging out with a friend, watering her beloved window plants, or making a mess of paper and tape in an attempt to do a craft.
You stop scrolling for a moment and rub your forehead. Is a headache coming on? Will this go on forever? Who cares whether Chuey is breathing or not? Not you. Perhaps it will conclude soon. But something in you fears this is only the beginning. Or rather, the halfway point.
…
Oh, cruel fate. Here it goes again.
Chuey has a fondness for slightly cruel jokes and riddles, mostly because she loves to point and laugh, “Hah, you walked right into that one!” Her friends only hate her a little bit for it. They've only planned to do away with her once, after all. At least in her hearing. Her favorite joke starts with the opening line, “How do you keep an idiot in suspense?” Needless to say, she gets plenty of glares whenever she breaks that one out.
At this point, Chuey is running out of things to say. It's awfully boring talking about herself, after all. So she's decided to dump the Random Fact Avalanche on anyone reading.
Wait, what? No, no, please, not the Random Fact Avalan-
Chuey is a homeschooled Christian whose favorite series is Keeper of the Lost Cities, favorite character is Keefe, and favorite book is the Hobbit. She also adores Pride and Prejudice, both the book and the miniseries, as well as Sense and Sensibility. She likes drinking beverages made from hot water and occasionally milk, anything to do with chocolate, reading in the middle of the night, stuffed animals, snuggling with her besties, watching movies in the middle of the night, doing anything in the middle of the night (except going to the bathroom, because that's just cruel to have to do in the middle of the night), riding her bike, playing with dogs, walking dogs, being slobbered on by dogs, cuddling cats, cuddling rats, holding snakes, reading amazing books, watching Lost in Space, playing classical music, listening to music, going to the library, finding books, checking out books, finding an entire series on the library shelf and checking the entire thing out, playing board games, daring her friends to do dumb things, messing around in SWC, torturing her readers, torturing her characters, thinking up plots in bed at night, eating starfruit, eating strawberries, eating whipped cream, writing insanely long paragraphs, hitting word counts, getting points, winning cabin wars, winning SWC, making friends, doing scary things that are fun after they happen like going down a big long fast twisty waterslide in total darkness, swimming in the ocean, making sand castles on the beach, road trips, hanging out with family, playing video games like Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing, doing puzzles, wondering if she has enough words in this thing already, books by Brandon Sanderson, Brandon Mull, Shannon Messenger, Jane Austen, and a bunch more that she's forgetting, and writing short stories.
You pant, gasp, choke, floundering in a tsunami of words. How many commas was that, anyway? A million? It sure felt like it. Shuddering, you back away and close your eyes, hoping that the nightmare will end. With trembling fingers, you scroll down.
But what's this? Miracle of miracles, the end is almost in sight. Breathing a sigh of relief, you muster the strength to finish the thing.
The introduction stops abruptly. Chuey has finally, mercifully run out of words.
You want to scream.

1k word intro ✩ 1052/1000 words
HI BESTIES I’M PEPPER, LOVER OF CAPS LOCK AND SWC!!
this is my fifth swc session and my third time co-leading! you can find me in bi-fi this session (the winning cabin), where i’m co-leading alongside the legend alana, and absolutely incredible summer (not to be confused with summer of sci fi hehe) <3 some of my hobbies include writing obviously, reading, playing and listening to music, various sports, and not cooking but i will go into detail about that because 1k words is a lot and by the end of this you will probably know more about me than i know about myself xD let’s get started.
ahem, writing. I LOVE WRITING (AND CAPS LOCK)! I REALLY WANT TO BECOME A PUBLISHED AUTHOR IN MY FUTURE. I’D LIKE TO BECOME AN EDITOR WHEN IT COMES TIME FOR ME TO GET MY LIFE TOGETHER. reading and writing are some of my greatest passions and being an editor would help to combine those two things in one! <3 SO IT’S GONNA BE GREAT EEE
i’ve been writing since i can remember (but i’m still not very good at it asfajhg)! despite this, i truly love it - making up characters and completely different worlds that nobody’s ever pictured before is absolutely incredible to think about and put down on paper! last session i completed every single daily and finished (wait i forgot eek) i think 2 weeklies. i ended off the session writing 18305 words with an original goal of 15k! sobbing i’m rambling but yeah, i love writing and swc helps me to grow and improve in that while meeting amazing people along the way <33 my favorite genres to write in are fantasy, dystopian, sci fi, and romance :>
ahem, reading. I LOVE READING (AND CAPS LOCK)! my favorite genres to read (far different than what i write), are real fi, hi fi, mystery, adventure, and pretty much anything that makes me sob :’) yep, you heard right, it seems with any book i read the author manages to make me cry myself to sleep! my top five favorite books, in order from favorite to still favorite but not as much favorite but literally epic, are one for the murphy’s by lynda mullaly hunt, a mango shaped space by wendy mass, the boy in the striped pajamas by john boyne, out of my mind by sharon m draper, and the front desk by kelly yang. just a few days ago i re-read a mango shaped space for the third or fourth time and i don’t think i’ve ever cried so much while reading a book lemme tell you! XD i got to The Part (iykyk) and i swear every other page i’d calm down AND THEN WENDY WOULD WRITE SO BEAUTIFULLY AND IT FELT LIKE A KICK TO THE STOMACH AND BOOM I WAS SOBBING AGAIN. so i highly recommend it if you like to stay up in the dark of night secretly crying because of a book. my favorite book series is the hunger games (absolutely incredible, and the movies are great but they took away some key things from the books) and i also like the inheritance games even though i’ve only read the first one sobbing
ahem, music. I LOVE MUSIC (AND CAPS LOCK)! eee music is absolutely incredible <3 i play several different instruments, but my main focus right now is alto saxophone! i play sax for band in school, and i love it so so much <3 my band teacher is something else bahaha, he loves to make fun of me and i love to insult him back so yeah it’s a blast xD other than alto sax, i play piano, harmonica, recorder, ukulele, and a tad guitar! my favorite music artists are red hot chili peppers, taylor swift, pistol annies, a little bit of zach bryan but i’m not a huge fan of country, olivia rodrigo, and lots of other random stuff :’)
ahem, sports. I LOVE SOCCER, BASKETBALL, SOCCER (AND CAPS LOCK)! there you have it, all the sports i play! soccer is by far my favorite sport to play, it’s just super fun and i have a great time on the field with some of my best friends. in soccer (which is coming up eeee), i play center field, my coach likes to put me as outside center and center mid so anywhere in there. and on the occasion that a few of our forwards are gone i get to play a bit of that too which is fun! as for softball, i play first base and it is SO MUCH FUN. when i get out or something, i remember the number who dared get pepper out then the next time they’re up to bat i get to get them out at first and it is pure joy :> and finally, basketball. in basketball i am a wing, and a very short wing! i love to play basketball, our coach is amazing, and a bunch of my friends are on the team. at one point we went undefeated and it was tons and tons of fun ahaha ;D while my offense could use some work, i LITERALLY LOVE defense!! (but there was this one girl that loved it to much alkhflsdh - i was going in for a layup and she purposefully shoved me and i flew like ten feet out of the court and almost crashed into the wall. now my team calls me birdy because of how far i flew smh) so anyways ;D
ahem, cooking. I LOVE COOKING (AND CAPS LOCK)! guys i suck at cooking tbh. i almost burnt the house down one time and when i go off to college the only thing i’ll be eating is ramen and microwave meals because cooking is not my strong suit :’) baking is fun though! i love making brownies and cupcakes! cookies are fun to make but not really as fun to eat, and I SWEAR THE COOKIE IN A MUG TASTED LIKE A BURNT CHOCOLATE SPONGE NEVER TRY IT PLEASE.
ahem, bi fi. I LOVE THE WINNING CABIN (AND CAPS LOCK)! i am co-leading the winning cabin this session B) welp, that’s the end of my 1k word intro, i hope you had fun reading the chaotic mess of this that represents me! happy swc ;D
