They may have used a browser extension to make Scratch in dark mode.

If you can't install browser extensions, it could mean that whoever set up your device [if anyone ever did] disabled those extensions from being downloaded in your device. i probably read this wrong but oh well

If you are on a school chromebook or if your parents set parental controls on your device then you can't download extensions/addons. There's no way to go around that.

You can install them (if your organization allows it) but you aren't allowed to name extensions on Scratch.

However, you can use TurboWarp; it has a dark mode.

Scratch only doesn’t let you mention them because they don’t want little kids downloading a fake extension that is supposed to look like it that is a computer virus.

Or if a legitimate one gets hacked.

Unnameable browser extensions. We can't mention their name due to that being a violation or the rules. There is no built-in dark mode for Scratch- but there is a suggestion to make one. Read above for more information. Also, please don't post in old and inactive topics- this is known as necroposting.

To clear up some confusion about if you can download browser extensions:
You can on school Chromebooks, unless your organization disallows it.
You can on Chrome, unless your organization disallows it.
You cannot download the extension you need on Safari on a iPhone or iPad, because the creator has not put it on the App Store yet, which is required for Safari browser extensions on iPhones and iPads. On a Mac, you should be fine.

1. You currently can't, as said above.
2. This topic was from May, and has been answered.

I mean, not really hacked, but there was an incident earlier this year where some guy made an update to a browser extension that forced following the creator as a “prank”.
Edit: I have no idea why I said May, but yea that happened. People had no idea about this by the way, and thought that their accounts were hacked.

I'll close it to help highlight the answer and prevent future responses. If you need it re-opened, though, you can report this and ask.
