Allow scratch approved mods

Users can create mods and the scratch team will approve them and users can toggle them!

Allow scratch approved mods

a mod could change at any time, the creator could wake up and decide to allow swear words and make the site 13+, or something.

That's why they have to be ST approved! Then any later edits would require ST approval! Later on if enough people like the mod it could be added to main scratch!

the creators will still have access to the mod tho, they could change it behind st's back.

Obviously there would be a stop for that since the mods would be build into scratch. I do see your point tho

I think he means that they send the mod in for approval, the scratch team accepts and they add the file to the board of mods. later if the creator wants to update it, they send a update request, then sends an updated version of the file which is also screened by the scratch team. so the creator does not have direct access to the version of their mod stored on scratch.

(btw I don't see this as necessary or likely to be added)

Or they could just re-create ScratchX for 3.0
The point of modifying something (modding it) is to change it in some way. Scratch's mods are no different- they all change something about Scratch. However, this does not mean that the Scratch Team has to endorse them in any way. Furthermore, Scratch mods are not under the control of the Scratch Team in any way, so concerns mentioned above about the creator suddenly adding something inappropriate are valid. The alternative is for the ST to clear each update for approved mods before updating them, but the has neither the time nor resources to do that, and it would make a bunch of annoyed devs when they're waiting for their critical bug fix to be cleared by the ST.

Furthermore, there exists platforms that are Scratch mods that allow project sharing, such as Antarctic bird mod (not mentioning its actual name because it's forbidden. If you know what I'm talking about, you know what I'm talking about, otherwise, don't ask).
