hello there minions! ;D thanks so much to those who volunteered to help us out with art - at long last, here's some info on your assignments!
our project weekly this session will follow the adventures of mazasa, our polar bear mascot, as he sails around the islandswc in search of decoration for his new den. as he travels, he will encounter islands that represent each cabin, which he can explore and do challenges on to gain a decoration.
you all will be in charge of drawing the cabin themed islands and water areas! we are looking for art with basic shading for all parts. all islands are part of a land mass, and each land mass has an assigned manager to make sure things look coherent. please go to your manager with questions, initial sketches of your islands, and anything else you might need.

head over to this spreadsheet for reference images, color palettes, and more info on what your section should contain: https://www.canva.com/design/DAGJD8rtfOs/-T5EQ-sy8V4cH25efmU5xw/edit make sure to look through it thoroughly before you begin!
additionally, each part has a ‘hitbox’ (explained on the canva), make sure to head over to the other canva linked in the first one to see the full map and where your hitbox fits in! that other canva also has color palettes, please use them to ensure that everything is cohesive. please download your hitbox from this project and draw over the top of it so that everything fits together as planned: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1041523170/

(I think this was skipped over from moss's post but – remember to let us know here if you can complete your art! that way we can re-assign parts if needed, we haven't received any responses yet </333)
Also, some clarification about the hitboxes – here is the key of what each of the colors generally mean on the hitboxes:
- black: building
- dark gray: barriers
- light grey: island land
- blue: water
- red: building door
Additionally, all of the building hitboxes are accompanied with a green label inside the canva that describes what the buildings should look like, and a majority of the barriers have color palettes to be followed (color palettes at the top of the hitbox canva!)
Here is a general list of things you should have opened and viewed before getting started on your art:
- the art reference canva
- the hitboxes canva (note the labels + color palettes)
- the hitboxes project (export your part from here, not the canva!)
- confirming here if you can/cannot do your part
- reach out to alana/alia/moss/inky/zai&amethyst&alba depending on who is overseeing your area for specifications, and ask any questions if applicable!
^^^^^ hope this helps <33

I am in the process of contacting everyone I'm overseeing (the 13 water people) – one of the things I have been asking everyone is to contact their adjacent hitbox artists to make sure everything is consistent – I just want to clarify that you can draw your art in your own style and the style itself does not need to be coordinated, however, *what* you are drawing should be somewhat consistent with everyone else – for example, a consistent idea of the shipwreck barrier (what kind of ship? what part of the ship you're drawing?) or the rocky shore (what kind of shore (pebble, boulder, jagged, etc.?) how big are your rocks? etc.) is what we're looking for
An example of what you can contact people with: “Hi Alba!! We share the wooden posts barrier, so I wanted to let you know that I'm planning on drawing wooden posts that are a bit jagged at the top jutting out of the water” and a response back from Alba could be “Okay, got it! I will make sure to draw something like that for the wooden posts too then” or “Hmm, okay, what do you think of having some of the wooden posts rotting too?” etc. – another example “Hi Inky, we share the rocky shore barrier, I was thinking for the rocky shore that we do a shore that's covered in medium-sized and large jagged rocks, and maybe some foam near the edges” and a response back could “Okay, got it! I will make my shore jagged then” or “Hmm, what about we do a shore covered in pebbles instead?” etc.
