Support for OGG files and flac files
Starting from a WAV, you can tweak OGG parameters to reach a size near to an MP3, while having a better audio quality in the end. Compression/quality optimisation mostly.Pros: MP3 is universally compatible. The MP3 format generates smaller sizes than OGG. MP3 is relatively easy to transform.
But yeah, otherwise i would agree than mp3 generates smaller than ogg.

Support for ogg
I see no reason that scratch uses wav and mp3 and not ogg. It just wastes time to convert them and ogg is many peoples preferred format

Some browsers don't support those unfortunately (looking at you, Safari. Worst browser ever made).Safari supports ogg
If anything I’d expect it not to support wav because it was made by Microsoft

Safari supports oggI think they meant mobile safari
as iOS devices can’t detect .ogg files

Bump. Come on, make Scratch compatible with OGG. Make a new trend, literally EVERY respectable device and browser supports it.

I would live to see official OGG support. It's not like Scratch can't handle them.
In the meantime, there's a very hacky workaround which is renaming your OGG files under the .mp3 extension so that Scratch accepts them (yes, I'm not kidding)

Support. FLAC files are really HQ and has lossless compression that's better than WAV. You can rename the file extension, but the quality decreases.

support. I have random occasional .ogg sound files but I never use them, I prefer WAV, but I think that support should still be added for other people that use it. Just because I don't need it doesn't mean that everyone else also won't.

I agree that scratch needs to support .ogg file making a Minecraft clone is a pain when all the sound is .ogg
