BEWARE OF THE NECROPOSTS!!!!!!!! Wait, what even are they?
So recently around scratch I've been seeing a couple of posts that have a comment by someone (often a member of the Scratch team) that classifies them as a “Necropost,” and I've been wondering, what even are they, I got the obvious, that yeah, it was something to do with their age, but I'm wondering, why? They normally have no commenting option (annoyingly,) and so I'm just really confused, now yeah, I could ask google but it redirects me to the forums anyway so there's no point in that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but yeah, I just hope I know soon before this post becomes one I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯shruggie 2.0, lol

“Necroposting” generally refers to posting on a resolved thread that has not been replied to for a long time.
How long is a “long time”? It's not well-defined, and everyone will give you different answers.
There are even some forums where “necroposting” doesn't exist. For example, you can post on old suggestions in the Suggestions forum, as long as you are contributing positively to the discussion.
Personally, since the whole definition and usage of the word “necropost” is not well-defined, so I tend to avoid using the word “necropost.”

necro is corpse, like necromancy (bring back corpse).
so it is a corpse post, practically dead.

necro is corpse, like necromancy (bring back corpse).According to Google:
so it is a corpse post, practically dead.
relating to a corpse or death.
It's generally considered to be a topic that hasn't had posts in a while that gets bumped by someone writing something unconstructive. It's not helpful because old topics get bumped to the first page, crowding out things that are happening now (for example, in this forum, it crowds out questions made within the past few days with what are often posts from at least 4 years ago). A lot of the time, it happens because a topic was never closed even though it was resolved.

to give my two cents to this discussion, i'd say around 4 or 5 months since the last comment, you shouldn't respond to posts, as i would consider that a necropost.
