Can you make money off Scratch?

I guess if you are apart of the ST. Griffpatch is also making money off of scratch with his little program, so I assume yes, it is possible.

@griffpatch doesn’t make money through Scratch. His program is completely separate from Scratch (although it’s about Scratch).

Yes, but that’s making not making the money through Scratch, as it’s the other site giving you the money for a game (animation, etc.) that happened to be made on Scratch.

The true answer is no, you can’t make money through Scratch unless you work for the site as a Scratch Team member.

You can't make money directly from scratch, but you can use scratch to then make money on other platforms, such as youtube.

There is no way on Scratch to make money, however, you can sell your Scratch Project if you want.

why is that legal?

It's legal because everything on Scratch is under Creative Commons.

Terms of Use Section 3.6 wrote:

Commercial use of Scratch, user-generated content, and support materials is permitted under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 license. However, the Scratch Team reserves the right to block any commercial use of Scratch that, in the Scratch Team's sole discretion, is harmful to the community. Harmful commercial use includes spamming or repeated advertisement through projects, comments, or forum posts.

The Creative Commons license allows people to use things on Scratch commercially if you give credit.
