Increase the maximum file size of studio banners.

I literally drew a banner for my studio and I yet I can’t even use it because it’s bigger than the 500x500 limit. Can we atleast increase this to 1500x1500?
whenclickedsayOr maybe scratch could make the banner bigger?

Increase the maximum file size of studio banners.

its so they can all fit on one server, i dont think the size you suguessted is okay but something of at least the correct aspect ratio would work

The data stored by a 500 x 500 image: 500 x 500 x 3 = 750,000 bytes
The data stored by a 1500 x 1500 image: 1,500 x 1,500 x 3 = 6,750,000 bytes
Plus some metadata, but that's a trivial amount.
(the 3 is for each color channel: red, green and blue)
34,582,726 x 6,750,000 = 2.334334005 x 10^14 bytes
^ number of studios
That's
233,433,400,500,000 bytes
or about 233 terabytes, which is a lot of storage space and money, because this website costs the Scratch Foundation a lot of money already, and they're a non-profit, so they survive on donations.
So, no. they're not going to do this.

Removed- I accidentally posted the post twice somehow. See my post below.

Increase the maximum file size of studio banners.

You can also usually use a laptop to decrease the image's dimensions.
Are you on mobile?

(I just edited it to give you a better sense of how much information that is)
Of course, that's all uncompressed data, so it can actually be somewhat less if compression is used (especially lossy compression, but that decreases image quality)
They could add support for .svg files (the vector editor in projects uses these behind-the-scenes), which have a resolution of infinity, because they save shapes rather than colors, thus they can be rendered at an infinite resolution. Fonts are already vector graphics or otherwise infinitely scalable, which is evident when you make something have a font size of something like 100,000.

But Old studios will still use 500x500

This is about the maximum file size, not the minimum. You could have a 1 x 1 image (one pixel), which is more metadata than what's stored in the image. Or, you can have a 500 x 500 image. Old studios can still use the old size, and so can new ones.
