Randomly got a network ban notification
I was using scratch on my bus wifi, about to follow someone. scratch was working like normal but seconds later after I pressed the follow button, a notification screen popped up saying “sorry, your network has been banned because it was used to break the community guidelines”. I didn't do anything wrong; if I did, then I would've got a warning from the scratch team. do you think you know why this happened?
thanks, Babaisyou544 (this was also put on the old thread about IP bans. I dont think i did anything wrong)

someone else (or maybe a few other people) using scratch on that network must have broken the guidelines. if you did nothing wrong your account should be fine.

i also had the same thing happen on the network at my mom’s house. all networks there got ip banned without reason, and nobody else on any of said networks use scratch. my account wasn’t affected which is really odd.

I was probably the only one using scratch on the bus. Out of nowhere it happened. One of my friends said it was a glitch

As said above, there's probably nothing you need to worry about, particularly if your Scratch account itself was not banned.

It is probably because someone else on the network.
This is also why you should be cautious when using other public networks with Scratch, because its IP could be banned (and possibly others, like being blocked from editing on Wikipedia, which is at my school)
If you did nothing wrong though, there's nothing you need to worry about.
This can also happen when using VPNs, because some (not naming names here) block you from using Scratch.*
*if that happens, turn the VPN off and reload the page. it should work

OMG, RECESSFAILS POSTEDOff-topic.
Would be nice if people stopped abusing Scratch and didn't get IP banned in the first place, but there's always bad actors out there. Just connect to a different router, or use a hotspot or cell data (assuming, of course, you have a smartphone on you and want to use cell data for that).

VPNs can cause it, basically if you are using a shared IP address, always be ready for this to happen

As @Za-Chary mentioned above, someone else probably was using Scratch at some point on that bus and got IP banned. The VPN thing is only to prevent people from ban evading.

If they know you did nothing wrong you should be safe. Just use scratch elsewhere.

I don't use one. this Is my private account. If you where using a internet in your house it is probably a error or someone hacked into the internet. If you where using a public wifi it was probably that someone was using scratch and they didn't follow the community guidelines.
