So, it’s currently unknown if the ST plans on allowing AFD this year.
So of course, time to host a forum!
I’m thinking about hosting a fork of DjangoBB, RIP for the “server” I’m gonna run it on. Anyone else wanna pitch into this?
Our current goals:
-Make a reskin of another forum software, if possible
-Get a full mod team, all members must be 18+(I say, being 16)
-Implement a Captcha like system
-Implement ScratchAuth
-Pray the ST allows it to be linked

There's no place like 127.0.0.1
YouTuber, Culinary Enthusiast, CS Enthusiast, programmer, Engineering Enthusiast/Hobbyist, enjoyer of the electric system, and I enjoy writing in my free time. Although I won’t share and of my works on Scratch, feel free to ask why on my profile.

Yeah, in order to ensure the user is a Scratch user.

It is, so it might be what's ultimately used.
However, I'm probably gonna modify the front end a bit when implementing it.

The only issue with keeping it up year round is dealing with a consistent connection.
I live in the country, where a single storm can easily knock out power for extended periods.
Also that it's a garbage machine I plan on running a different site on after the fact. However, when I upgrade to a proper server rack, I'll consider it
Edit: that is to say, I'll host a permanent version on said hardware when I migrate the initial site to a proper server rack, which is in the works, just really slowly.

There’s zero reason to use djangobb. The default version doesn’t look much like scratch’s fork, it’s entirely unmaintained and painful to set up, and is just awful overall. You should be able to get discourse working with scratch oauth (https://oauth2.scratch-wiki.info/. I have experience with discourse plugin dev and infra management so if you need help I can try to provide some support.

scratch auth is a way better solution for scratch authentication then scratch oauth

no it wouldn't. you can't have an off-site chat linked on scratch. period.

disclaimer: sometimes my posts are pretty critical of the scratch team (especially my older ones), but i really do scratch & scratch team. jvvg made a short essay thing about the scratch team, which is a pretty good read, if you want a different perspective for the scratch team's actions.

Youtube links get converted to an embed with no comments automatically. The rule still stands, youtube is just an exception because it's popular and the ST found a way for it to be safe.

Solution: just send it to the people offsite, to prevent little kids from entering, which equates to a bit less spam
