About the 2024 AFD announcement

So apparently this is the 2024 AFD announcement.

I have a few questions about this.
The Ps. This is not a prank thingy makes me think it’s an early AFD prank. Are you able to remove that please?
Why are they doing this? I mean couldnt they just make the whole forums an AFD prank just for one day, or just hire more moderators to make sure that there are no AFD posts in non-AFD forums?

But then I had a very good idea. I used F5. See, using F5 gave me a whole new perspective and I was able to see a chest I couldn't have seen before.
Everytime I see the number 2024, I think its 2014 for a millisecond but then realize its 2024.

It's meant to be the opposite, many people would think that it's a joke and therefore not adhere to the announcement and post April Fool's day topics and posts regardless. This post states that this announcement is valid, and should be treated as such.

Moderators cost money. Hiring more moderators for a prank day so that people don't make inappropriate comments or topics would be a waste of resources as I'm sure scratch has more pressing problems these resources could be spent on.

Saying “This is not a prank” is about as clear as you can be; it is clear that this is not an AFD prank. It shouldn't be removed.

This basically happened every year for the past several years, and problems have been showing up. Evidently there is no good solution.

Why would moderators be hired for only one day? Why go through all the paperwork and effort for interviews, payroll setup, etc. for many people who will only be working one day?

I don’t think it’s an early April Fool’s thing. An entire ST announcement would most likely not be a joke.
