Diglett Layering Problem

I'm making a Pokemon-based Whack-A-Mole game for a school project. I have a problem, though. The top and middle rows of digletts aren't popping up like the bottom row, which is the correct way. I just wanted to see if there was something wrong with the layering of my sprites.

Diglett Layering Problem

I don't know why but for the first layer you need to set the layer to 41, and the second layer doesn't work at all. You really need to fix your layering system, I recommend setting the holes to 1, 3, 5, 7 from top to bottom, and the digletts to 2, 4, 6 for each layer from top to bottom.

Diglett Layering Problem

first, using clones for the diglets would shrink the amount of code by 70%, second, you could have a variable to tell the clones or sprites to go to the front. The top hole sprite would go first then the top diglets then the top middle hole sprite, then the middle diglets, then the middle bottom hole, then the bottom diglets and finally, the bottom hole cllone.
