No, it wouldn't really. That's not necessarily “solving” the issue, as people can just start spamming on 11 month old threads instead of 3 year old threads.

It could close threads automatically after 1 year, but if the topic has no posts for at least a month, it will send an ST message asking if the OP wants to close it.

Yeah, but it's not like everyone will ask to close a thread — some may ignore it, not understand it, or straight-up not see it, and it can still make some of those threads vulnerable to necroposts.

Besides, even if every person ends up vowing to close their thread after 4 weeks, it's not gonna prevent people from necroposting on topics that haven't been active for 3 weeks instead. There's essentially no difference between bringing up irrelevant threads from a day ago versus bringing up irrelevant threads from 10 years ago.
