Yeah- there should be like a switch near the messages box that can toggle on or off a ping sound.

As others have said, this would need to be toggleable. Personally, I think an opt-in approach would work, as others have suggested, where there is an option in settings toggle audio notifications. I would not, however, be in favour of this being as notifications on either desktop or phone - with the noise only taking place if you're logged into Scratch on their website.

I'm unsure as to the implementation of this though, as I've found in the past that notifications don't flow in, but rather come when you refresh the Scratch page? Again, that may just be me (or an old-timey glitch that doesn't exist anymore).

If it's possible to address the above concerns, I'd be in favour of this - otherwise, feel there are outstanding issues that could lead to rampant abuse to annoy and harass certain Scratchers.

there is a chrome extension that adds desktop notifications for scratch and lets you customize the sound
support though, some browsers don’t support cross-downloading from CWS like opera and edge do (and it removes the extra step of having to toggle it)
