Can I make a reference of alcohol in my animation?
Hi everyone!
I'm working on an animation, where my character gets pulled over for driving erratically, but it turns out he's just drinking root beer.
Google hasn't really given me a definite answer on whether I can or not, so I'm just making a forum post to ask if I can.

As long as it's just cartoonish and not realistic and strongly references references alcohol, you should be good!

Make sure to make it clear that you are not condoning the consumption of alcohol.

As long as it is not glorified (eg. Children don't look at it and think it is a good thing). The context which you put it in I think is good as it shows that drinking and driving is against the law

I would suggest avoiding direct alcohol references. For example, when the police pulls over the driver, don't have them ask anything like “Have you been drinking tonight?” Maybe something like “Why are you driving so erratically?”

I don't think root beer is an alcoholic drink, but it's best to steer clear of direct drinking references.
Edit: it's not naturally alcoholic but alcohol substances can be added so the context of your project can differ for people so best to make it indirect

Either you add a disclaimer or you lighten the fact that he is drinking.

Disclaimers will not change the way the Scratch Team judges whether a project should be on the site or not.

I've never heard this before, but Root Beer would actually be a really good thing to use in these projects - it's not beer, but it's still alluding toward beer - that would be a smart idea for a cartoony/silly Scratch animation. I don't think root beer is an alcoholic drink, but it's best to steer clear of direct drinking references.
