It seems that everyone here, myself included, uses an older device, browser version, or operating system (my browser/OS is MacOS Macintosh X 10.13.6, Safari 13.1.2, no Flash version detected). Given the timeline, I would be inclined to agree with @medians and hypothesize that Scratch with the new update isn't able to run on these now. It seems odd, since all the Scratch Team appears to have done is change the colors from blue to purple (albeit somewhat inconsistently).

It's disappointing - in genuinely seeking inclusivity, Scratch is (unintentionally) excluding people. I hope this is just a temporary problem; a lot of people here seem to be having trouble with it.

Hey I have the same problem and I am not sure what to do! I’m very glad I’ve found this though but it doesn’t solve what I should do

The ST has recently implemented a fix to a crash bug that happens on Safari 13.1 and below (which is probably this topic): https://github.com/scratchfoundation/scratch-gui/pull/9061
So, it should be fixed soon; maybe tomorrow or next week. For now, try updating your browser if you can.

The issue seems to have resolved or been fixed at least temporarily for me. I can finally run projects again.

Is this fix ubiquitous, or are you all still experiencing the crash bug on your ends?

I’m still having this problem safari 13.1.2 so looks like not fixed globally

Switching to Opera as a browser was my solution - but thanks for this thread that helped me identify the problem.

every time I open a scratch project the screen is purple. My version is 10.0.17134 My OS name is Microsoft Windows 10 Pro.

I have the same problem.When i open scrath on my Windows XP Profesiona sp3 (service pack 3.And the browser that i am using Is K-Meleon version 76) i get a purple screen but the browser say that the page is fully loaded.

i cant do anything if i press the scratch website the screeen goes purple idk what type computer i have but it is old

So my scratch is showing a blank purple screen when I open a project, create a new project or just try and get onto scratch. What's going on and how do I fix it?
