turbowarp is a website, you don't download it. And it isn't payed either, so how could it be “not worth it”?

You are wrong there buddy. Yes, you can indeed download it and all that. And by worth it, I mean is it a good application to download.

I mean, it's also a site, and it is good. It speeds up Scratch and adds tons of features

I exclusively use the offline version of TurboWarp for major projects. I use it because…
  • I work on a single computer only and I don't want to rely on an internet connection to edit projects. Also consider that it requires the Scratch servers to run too and there have been many outages before. There has also been the “question mark glitch” where assets are missing / failed to download. I don't want to deal with such potential issues.
  • I like the control over project versions and I rather have project files stored on my computer than either needing to create duplicate projects online (“save as a copy”) or downloading them every time. My largest projects generally get to around 20 versions (as in, 20 sb3 files).
  • Online scratch has limitations on file size which is very inconvenient when developing a project. I want to be able to save my project at any time without needing to delete temporary or excess data in a project.

Absolutely. It's better than the official Scratch editor (and especially the official desktop app) in pretty much every way; a compiler to make projects run faster, addons for quality-of-life changes, dark mode, other performance improvements and bugfixes, custom extensions if you don't need Scratch-compatibility and more. Pretty much the only thing it's worse at is that it does not and will not support Scratch accounts.

Though, if you're on a school computer it might be better to use the online version instead of downloading it?

Firstly, you can download Turbowarp from the link 'https://desktop.turbowarp.org/'
Secondly, Turbowarp is good for some uses, but not for others.

Here are some Pros and Cons of Turbowarp:

Pros:
- Has a lot of extensions
- You can package a project in HTML and send it via email or put it on a website
- Has addons built-in
- No payment (does NOT even have a paid version)
- Has an offline editor you can download

Cons:
- No share button (need to share it another way)
- No AI Extension (though competitors do not have one either)
- Some projects may not work on Scratch

If you DON'T want Turbowarp, look into the following instead:
- Scratch (at 'https://scratch.mit.edu/')
- Truebot (at 'https://www.truetruebot.com/files/bt/index.html')
- 2Code (I don't have a link and you have to pay for a purple mash lisence and it will come with stuff that you DON'T need for programming!)

If you want to learn hand-written code, look at these instead:
- Codepen (at 'https://codepen.io/')
- Python (download at 'https://www.python.org/downloads/')
- Java (at 'https://www.java.com/en/')
- VScode (at 'https://code.visualstudio.com/')

Or, you can use HTML and JavaScript- the languages that the web use- which you can edit in any decent text editor.
in addition, GitHub has a web-based version of VScode
