quake port is essential
What does that mean?
ctrQuake is a quake port for the 3DS, it's fairly polished and is one of my favorite homebrew games
Oh, It's a game. I thought it was some file that I needed for homebrew or something.

You should get Twilight Menu so you can play Ds games.
Also remember to follow This guide.

Or use NDSForwarder. Better for a more classic 3DS menu

custom firmware will be installed, and will work no matter if your SD card is inserted or not, but I do believe there is a way to uninstall it (not that you'd want to anyways)

You can uninstall CFW by following this guide: https://3ds.hacks.guide/uninstall-cfw.html

The guide linked deletes boot9strap, along with all CIA-format homebrew and not-legally-acquired games. To prevent things from breaking (like Data Management in System Settings) it also factory resets the device, which will delete all games (legally-acquired games can be redownloaded from the eShop) and all save data.

Unless you press certain button combinations, it's hard to tell if CFW is installed. If you really want to, you can just put all of your homebrew apps in a folder and then put the folder very far away (or use .3dsx format homebrew)

boot9strap will be installed to the system memory (replacing the bootloader), and the finalize script seems to put Luma on the system memory somewhere.
Almost everything else is installed to the SD card, except for many DSi-mode homebrew (like Twilight Menu)

Is there a way to uninstall mods without formatting my console, if so, I MAY think about modding my 3ds.
no I'm not an imposter, and no, it's not opposite day

You can, but it's very likely to break things.

In more detail, when an app (that isn't a .3dsx app) is installed, a ticket is installed to prove that this 3DS owns this app and can use it. All DSi and 3DS digital apps (not cartridges, or .3dsx files) require a ticket. With the exception of apps downloaded through a system update, tickets are unique to each 3DS. Tickets are also signed by Nintendo, meaning that homebrew apps and pirated games don't have legitimate tickets. On a stock 3DS, accessing data management in system settings with illegitimate tickets causes data management to crash.

In addition, region changing the 3DS, changing the keyboard, modifying the Home Menu (not just the theme), along with some other things, causes the signatures of those apps/files to be invalidated, causing them to not work (keyboard) or brick the console.

Yes but there is a chance of brick

Also if you're going to uninstall the mods then stuff like 3DSX files will be inaccessible unless you have a copy of Cubic Ninja and are willing to run Ninjhax every time you wanted to load into The Homebrew Launcher

That's fair. My dad said to always be careful when modding because he bricked a PSP back in the day. If you don't want to take the risk, that's totally okay. I modded my 3ds because I had no plans to remove CFW.

Did any of you guys use that “Game notes” section to just draw? I remember when I was little I used it to make a story about a dog who survives a hot-air balloon crash and then she find a jet and flies it off into the clouds. I also used to make stories with Swapnotes instead of using them as a messenger. I remember I used them to make a scrapbook story about some dogs that traveled the world. Gee, I really must've liked dogs!
