Correct. Scratch isn't built to host videos, let alone play them. GIFs and other looping images are a better option, since that is what Scratch can accept.

No, scratch limits what you can share to the website to 50 mb. (it was 10 mb in 1.4), so it won't work. Sprites and scripts take little space compared to videos. Scripts are probably just text codes plus a coordinate to show where it will show after see inside is clicked.

Scripts are just text codes. You can look up JSON on the wiki.

1: The scratch team would have to moderate the videos uploaded, making inappropriate content more common, and even more unnoticed

2: Do you know how long it takes to upload a youtube video? Imagine that on a weaker server like scratches.

3: “Upload random pewdipie videos and become popular”
Need I say anymore? This is what people mean by abusing that feature.

4: Scratch would need an overhaul to make this possible, if it cant play GIF frames all well at the moment, then imagine video Codecs, it would have to recognise the many different ones, and know how to decode them along with the audio, do you have any idea how hard that would be?

5: What does this present to enhance scratch? How will it be used? Will it conform with what scratch needs? Like those “scratch for 3DS/Xbox”, its only bought up because a minority of people need/want it for their project, without thinking of what it means to other people.

Yeah this thread is dead, should be closed. There's been a mountain of no supports for this, it's clear the community doesn't want this.

Best off using GIFs with sound or URLs. No Support.
