Support, only the Requests forum uses some use of miscellaneous Unicode characters.

I agree with this, I've seen chainmail that bypasses the filter by using a different font to say something like “If you dont do (something) u will be forced to eat taco bell for breakfast” and getting away with it. It is pretty annoying and like the OP says it can be used for much worse things.

I would prefer if we just banned other fonts, but making the filter sensitive to them might work too.

It should also extend to the scratch website in general for good measure, chainmail is annoying even if it isnt as common anymore.

fonts and unicode charachters are diffrernt

there isnt a way to do any other font than the one we are typing in right now, what people are doing is using unicode that looks like a letter to bypass the filter

this is not allowed as it breaks screen readers and should be reported

Can you explain how the filter would be more sensitive toward text with different fonts like Zalgo? What would it filter out compared to text written without those sort of fonts?

Why not just extend this to the filter on the entire website? Saying slurs while using different fonts should not be allowed anywhere on the website.

Because the unicode characters are unsupported on the main website anyways

How many unicode fonts are out there anyways?

one difficulty to this is that that this would have is that there are many languages (and symbols) that have to be supported on scratch (a lot of them having characters looking similar to latin script (english) ), so there are maybe about 50-1000 unicode characters that look like any one latin script character, this means a person could substitute any character in the word with one of those 1000 characters that look the same as it and get away with a filter bypass. if the scratch team were to implement this, they would have to find every single one of those possible characters for every letter in every alphabet, abjad, and abugida which might be time consuming if there isn't an obvious option that i have forgotten about.

i am partial support.

They aren't exactly fonts,
They're all miscellaneous characters that were added to Unicode in different sections and for different purposes.
People use so-called “text generators” that group these characters together and use them like a font.
