Updates! Feb 13th, 2015
Please, please tell me email updates can be unsubscribed from.
I get enough emails as it is, and I can't read all of them.

Updates! Feb 13th, 2015
According to the message about the updates, "All accounts made before this update do not need to confirm their email address to leave comments, share projects, and create studios, etc. It's as if nothing changed."
However, I uploaded a project and was unable to share it. I read the message about the updates and went to look at the email address in my account and it required that I confirm it.
Also, has the ability to turn off comments on a project been removed? I no longer see that option but for projects where we previously selected this option, comments are still no longer allowed. For our class account, our policy has been to not allow comments on individual projects. Can I no longer do this?

Whoops! That looks like an error. We'll fix this.

What is it saying when you're unable to share your project? Does it ask you to confirm your email address?

these updates look good, but I can't remember the password for the E-mail I used for my account, so I'm glad I started 3 months ago . but overall, these updates look really good! (also, where's the letters in cloud variables!?)

It didn't say anything, it just kept the “This project is unshared message” on the project page. Since I had read the updates message, I decided to see if I had a good email address on my account. When I went to the Email options within Account Settings, it said that I had changed my email (I hadn't) and that I needed to confirm it. I resent the message (since I didn't get one originally) and then confirmed the email and now it looks like I can share again. I'll find out for sure later this afternoon when some student projects get finished that I will want to share.

I kind of don't want e-mail confirmation. Scratch was like the only one site where you didn't have to confirm.

Yeah, that happened to me too, but it can share now Sounds like some great additions! By the way, I can't share one of my projects even though it says I am…so uh…yeah.

I just have a concern: I don't really like the email thing. If some kids' parent keeps getting Scratch emails, they aren't going to know what the emails are and make their kid stop using Scratch because they don't want to get emails from a source they don't really trust yet. Also, if the parent gets the email confirmation thing they'll probably think it's junkmail and delete it straightaway. That would leave the poor kid unable to share projects in any way just all because of an email misconception. Take my mom, for example. If she started receiving random Scratch updates she would probably demand to know what they are, putting me in an uncomfortable and unnecessary situation.
Just my opinion, you don't have to consider it. But I do highly recommend you remove the feature.
Also, another reason - this would leave a lot of people hanging. My friend signed up with a fake email because he didn't WANT to worry about all that email and password-resetting stuff and his parents probably wouldn't TRUST Scratch with their email even though it's only for one simple reason, and some people don't want to GO through all that just because of that one, silly, overtaking condition that prevents them from even making a Scratch account. Fake emails, on the other hand, are like a safe haven - and now that's gone. So if someone like my friend creates an account with a fake email, they suddenly can't share projects and have no idea what's going on so the poor kid wouldn't get to use Scratch to its full potential all because of one silly thing.
So please please PLEASE remove this feature or else Scratch's reputation might go down. A lot.
