And as far as I know, sharing scripts that interact with Scratch APIs here can be kind of murky anyways

I heard it was something to do with that web extension.

The ST lets you download extensions for Scratch, but you can't talk about them. Your safety is your priority.

The code is actually your device interacting with Scratch APIs, so it can't do anything you can't already do.

You can always use a YouTube tutorial but I don’t recommend making animated thumbnails. Making animated thumbnails can rate your project NFE (Not For Everyone) by the Scratch Team. This means your project cannot go onto the front page and it rarely appears in search results (Basically your project is rarer to find and your project will be less popular). This is because Animated Thumbnails can be flashy and lag the website. Just warning you the risks of making animated thumbnails.
