I've really only played Pokemon Crystal to any full extent, and even then I don't know where the save state (I totally paid for the game and I totally didn't just download a rom off the internet ) went sooo

I thought the trainer customization options were one of the few saving graces. Not as good as PLA, but it was a close second in customization.

oh! i was specifically talking about the clothing choices, actually. the customisation of the player's face/hair is the best yet in the series, but as for clothing i'd probably order it like this (my opinions, not a fact!), top to bottom:
Sword/Shield (with DLC) - SwSh probably stay on top even without the DLC options, although i have to say a lot of the options feel same-y to me.
X/Y - a wide variety of options, and not restricted to one particular theme.
LA - kind of a tossup between this and BDSP. this is a case of being restricted by the theming, which i'm against.
BDSP - you'd expect this to be closer to the bottom because of how few choices there are, but i think they make up for the lack of options by making all of the options really good. i only wish they let you wear the contest outfits outside of that side-mode.
SuMo/USUM - again the choices here are… fine, however the adherance to the tropical theme means there are, as far as i know, no long-sleeve options. and the longest the bottoms get is like, 3/4.
SV - the only one which i actively dislike. again they insist on the theme, and this one is even narrower than the others. it barely even makes sense for us to be wearing uniforms (which kind of ties in with another of my complaints which is that they gave us a school setting and then did very little with it? like you start the game, arrive at the school, watch a few cutscenes and then you literally get a textbox saying “The next several weeks of school fly by!” or something like that. and then okay, go play pokémon! you never have to come back to the school again if you don't want to. it's kind of at odds with the open-world nature of the game, i think).

uh in conclusion, please give me more pretty clothes to choose from gamefreak thank you.

Yeah, the themed clothing was an issue, but I do like the winter uniform.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. it's a remake of Red & Blue Rescue Team for the Switch (they combined them into one because they were already basically the same game)

I was on a similar boat, as I have only really played Pokemon Quest on the Switch. That is, until one time where I decided to get a ROM of Pokemon Crystal from… somewhere online… and then play it using an emulator. I even got to the second route to my knowledge! Unfortunately, I lost the save file.
