I was gonna ask for ST's statement and when they said it was allowed again but since an ST member just came in(not in this topic, in this subforum) and closed a few topics without closing this one, I think this may actually be unbanned again(which I didn't believe before).

i think the “best” Generation (gameswise, since i don't really keep up with the franchise at large) was probably Gen V. B2W2 especially just had so much content, loads of interesting side-modes and add-ons and whatnot. the ones that i personally find the most enjoyment in are Gen VI and VII though. Pokémon X is one of my most-played games ever (i've done at least 3 playthroughs at this point, one of which was a Professor Oak Challenge) and SOS-chaining for shinies in USUM is my favourite shiny-hunting method by far

I tried playing Super Mystery Dungeon a little while back and got bored insanely quickly, even with cheats on. (Don't even get me started on Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team.) I prefer more action, so I play Rumble Blast/World. (Wish Rumble Rush didn't shut down.) I do enjoy a good puzzler, though, so I also play Shuffle and Picross (finished).

I fixed the typo I made.
I played Super when I was younger, but I never beat it. It was pretty solid from what I remember. Gonna try it again when I beat EoS.

i intentionally avoided this topic in my reply to the QOTD because it seemed like it might steer into flamewar territory. but we're here now so uh, let's just be courteous about different opinions :)
i think the worst gen is a toss-up between 2 and 9, personally. obviously gen 1 is held together by ductape but i think it has a lot of charm and the glitchiness makes it fun to mess around with. gen 2 is kind of similar in those regards, but in terms of gameplay and balancing it's pretty meh. that said, i still really enjoy it and i'm kind of a sucker for that era of technology. it's just super charming to me. fun to look at, less so to play

in writing this, i realise that it's not a toss-up at all - gen 9 is my least favourite, hands-down. i waited a long time after release to get Scarlet/Violet, and when i finally did get them a couple of months ago… it was kind of a huge let-down. there's not really one big problem with them, it's just lots of different stuff: the open world feels more directionless then freeing; i'm not one to complain about this usually but the graphics and performance are SO disappointing when you consider that this is the same console as BotW - a game that came out more than Half A Decade ago and looks and runs way better; and the lack of trainer customisation options was just salt in the wound

maybe i'm just growing up, but the series seems to have lost its charm somewhat. it makes me really upset, honestly, to see them constantly pushing out unpolished, unfinished games just to meet this annual release schedule that they've started doing. the people working on these games are clearly passionate, and if they were actually given the time to work on a game then i truly believe they could make something incredible. but why do that when you can push out a half-baked Pokémon game every year and sell 20 million copies just like that?
