The ability to turn off following.

Some people don't like to be followed, and some peoples parents don't want them to have followers, so turning off the ability to follow people would be a good solution to that. It should say something like: “oops! This person has turned off following” or something like that where the follow icon was.

no, just like you can turn off commenting, it should say: oops! following is disabled for this account or something.

followers are sometimes exponential and get harder to ignore without extensions, point can still stand.
