When will scratch 4.0 come out? I mean its almost been 5 years since update 3.0, and 11 years since 2.0! SHEEESH, we've come along way since 2007!
Hopefully someone talks about this!

Just because it has been 5 years since 3.0 doesn't mean we should have a 4.0
Huge releases like 2.0 and 3.0 involve rewriting the entirety of Scratch to move to something better/more secure, and so far, we haven't needed to do that

The only reason there was a 3.0 is because the tech 2.0 was built on was ending browser support. Technicaly we are on ~3.11 ish (Don't quote me on that) but Scratch isn't like an OS where you get a new version every 4 years or so. Scratch 3 will be continually updated under the same name for a long time. (Until there is a huge overhaul of how the site needs to operate)

When something better than JavaScript comes along, which won't any happen time soon. Heck, Scratch 3.0 isn't even finished yet, so it wouldn't make any sense to start working on 4.0.

Scratch doesn’t have a scheduled updates, they just release it whenever it’s done, and most updates is to make scratch better and more compatible with everyone, not introducing new features

Exactly, scratch 3 has been around for 5 years. It's already grounded at this point and used for many things. There would be SO MUCH things in need of changing if scratch does a major update, which they have no reason to at this moment.
And even if they did update to 4.0, what will they even change? Don't expect any new blocks, because that's probably never happening. The only thing you could change at this point is the UI, which scratch could just update 3.0 if they felt like that.

4.0 hasn't been planned, nor is 3.0 finished. There are still some 2.0 pages e.g. MyStuff, Profile, Forums, and maybe some more that I don't know about.

kinda true. you remember flash? running 2.0 on desktop now uses adobe air, an advanced desktop version of flash.The only reason there was a 3.0 is because the tech 2.0 was built on was ending browser support.That is false.

Well, not completely false. Flash were solely killed because of various security holes that kept getting exploited. If it hadn't had so many security holes, it would probably stay alive to this day, and Scratch would only need a new redesign, not a whole update to how code is run, etc. (AS is a pretty fine language tbh)The only reason there was a 3.0 is because the tech 2.0 was built on was ending browser support.That is false.

We don't need a 4.0
I'm pretty sure the only reason we even needed a 3.0 was because Flash was dying.

Ah, wait, I've got an answer.Webpack can be easily replaced by a different system, such as Vite, and HTML5 seems to be the final major version of HTML, as Wikipedia says: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5
