Instead of appealing from just contact us, allow a link to appeals@scratch.mit.edu be shown in contact us
Still getting kinda lost here. Maybe I might have worded things badly and made things confusing?Between via “Contact Us” vs direct e-mail, “Contact Us” is the better of the two because it has some form fields that also help to expedite the appeals process (though not as well as when appealing via logging into the account, especially when users fail to provide their exact username or email currently assigned to the blocked account from the start, then too much time is spent on trying to find the blocked account the user is appealing for). With the way the internal.appeal inbox is set up, the direct email -snip-That would be via “Contact Us”, and direct e-mail "Contact Us, right? Not sure what you mean here, please clarify.I mean that Contact Us and Appeals are two different things, and I meant to ask if they are related or are somewhat similar to each other.
In any case:
Most preferred method - log into blocked account to submit appeal
Less preferred - submit appeal via Contact Us
Least preferred - submit via direct e-mail
They all result in the appeal getting into the same appeals e-mail inbox, but only logging into the account automatically adds extra info into the inbox system that helps mods go through appeals faster. Successful quick appeals submitted through Contact Us is dependent on if the blocked user provides the correct account and e-mail info from the start. Direct e-mail requires a whole bunch of replies back-and-forth between the mod and blocked user to verify the correct person is appealing for the blocked account. Both mods and blocked users just want appeals to be read and for a quick decision to be made, and that's only more likely if blocked users log into the blocked account and submit their appeal from there.

(#1)the starting @ is not needed and isn't actually valid for an email, mind a correction?
- They can contact ST by email via @appeals@scratch.mit.edu to appeal from their email and service provider website.

Still getting kinda lost here. Maybe I might have worded things badly and made things confusing? No, it's not your fault. I tend to word and format my styles wrong, so I apologize for any confusion that I might've caused.
In any case:
Most preferred method - log into blocked account to submit appealI understand now. I would also agree with the most preferred because I have done that to appeal for a block as well. Though, maybe the less preferred should be considered a little more?
Less preferred - submit appeal via Contact Us
Least preferred - submit via direct e-mail

It's not a normal e-mail inbox; with it's setup, appeals submitted through “Contact Us” will always be less preferred than submitting through logging in the blocked account because of the extra hassle on sorting them out.

Contact Us should be the preferred due to how much extra “hassle” as you said in your post to handle in one day and it could take about the whole day in fact.

I-I think it depends really how serious the actual ban is, if they were ip banned, that would possibly be better. Contact us tho… defiantly should be considered for any perma bans and regular bans in general.bringing useful post up

Most preferred method - log into blocked account to submit appealWhat if there account is deleted + IP banned ._. that's different…
Less preferred - submit appeal via Contact Us

the only reason you'd be both ip banned and have your account deleted would be if you did something super bad
(since otherwise account deletion could also be caused by innapropriate username)
