One Color Picker to rule them all, One Color Cursor to find them, One Color Picker to bring them all and in the light bind them
This is a combo of two older posts: Use Eyedropper and Pick Colors from anywhere
You can pick colors from:
And yet not all are the same.
First they use three different mouse cursors:
Then there are three different ways/constraints on picking colors
We need one Color Picker to rule them all.
The eyedropper is probably the best choice for a cursor, as it is probably the most universally recognizable.
The ability to pick a color from anywhere on the screen (including a palette when in Paint Editor) is much more powerful and lets kids design and use their own color schemes.
I met an artist who taught me to use pictures of animals and flowers to pick color schemes.
He convinced me when he asked: “Have you ever seen an ugly flower or bird?”
You can pick colors from:
- Paint Editor - Color picker tool (aka eyedropper)
Paint Editor - Fill Color
Paint Editor - Border Color
Color Sensor Tiles - <color touching ?> and <touching color?>
And yet not all are the same.
First they use three different mouse cursors:
- eyedropper - (Color Picker tool)
cursor arrow - (Fill Color and Border Color)
Hand with finger - (Color Sensor tiles)
Then there are three different ways/constraints on picking colors
- color from canvas only - (Color Picker tool)
color from palette only - (Fill Color and Border Color)
color from anywhere on the page - (Color Sensor tiles)
We need one Color Picker to rule them all.
