Panic Playdate extension
an extension that allows interaction with a Playdate over USB, using either webserial or Scratch Link. there is already a javascript library for communicating with a playdate (although i don't think this should be used as you have to enter a separate mode for controller input with this library, when controller input is already available over plain serial).
the basic blocks that could be implemented are:

there also could be other ones with a scratch-specific pdx, but that isn't nescessary.

What on earth is a panic play date
No support, arduino still doesn’t have an extension and is one of if not the most well known microcontroller ever. So having this before it would be baffling

It’s rejected anyway so it doesn’t matter
2.7 Scratch for video game consoles
The Scratch Team does not have the resources to put a Scratch editor onto a video game console. This includes making a Scratch editor for Nintendo Switch, 3DS, Xbox, and Playstation consoles.
However, the ability to connect gaming controllers to a computer or tablet to use for Scratch is NOT rejected. You can discuss it on this topic.
Playdate is a handheld video game console developed by Panic.

The suggestion is to add an extension that gives Scratch projects the ability to interact with a Playdate, not a Scratch editor for the Playdate. It’s rejected anyway so it doesn’t matterbruh2.7 Scratch for video game consoles

Woah, playdate seems like a pretty neat thing. I am all for this! Would the project be shown on the screen, though?

One problem - the Playdate screen is black-and-white.

Anyways, if this wouldn't utilize the Playdate's screen, maybe they can somehow partner with eachother and make an official non-screen version? Like a controller?
