Still could cause some drama but a lot less if it wasn't created by Scratch.
Unicode (system) emojis won't cause any drama. They are just country flags.
Okie. I do support because I don't see much unicode drama anymore. Just a quick question: some flags in the flag area are the following: White flag, black flag, pirate flag, checkered flag, red triangle flag, the pride flag, the transgender pride flag, the UN flag, Antartica flag, and Japan's two flags. Would all of these, none of these, or some of these get added in?

Look, I get what you are saying but by adding in emojis for each country, there would be a ton of emojis and a ton of rendering. Besides that, the amount of drama caused by them would be insane. Just adding _pride_ and _blm_ was controversial.
That's not my suggestion. I'm just suggesting for system country flag emojis to be able to be sent in comments and descriptions. Nobody has to create anything, it's already been done. Just open your emoji picker on your system and type in a country flag.
The problem with that, as Maximouse has already pointed out, is that Windows does not support flag emojis. There'd have to be some sort of trickery in order to get them to appear.

Yeah yeah Ben Shapiro, we need to be inclusive to all nationalities, but start applying the same thought to transgender people
I use Windows and sadly I can't view such emojis but why didn't they implement this earlier?

Isn’t the reason Scratch doesn’t support all Unicode emojis due to it only supporting up to UTF-8, and adding UTF-16 support would require heavy work on the Scratch database? This is where the flags lie, outside of UTF-8

I don't know the actual reason, but it's not UTF-8. (Also the more technical name for this is the Basic Multilingual Plane, but it's not that important. And yes, this is the third time I have posted the exact same thing.)

They would have to update the entire site to support a higher Unicode standard, which would be a pain and could break things. However, they could make each flag a custom emoji, like with _gobo_ or _B)_

How so? It works in lists, variables, and the editor. Also some emojis like ⭐ already work.

It doesn't work in comments or the forums. You can put it in projects because they do support it.

Flags are cool and are needed in Scratch. It encourages diversity and democracy. But this may be used to hate other countries.

I don’t believe this is a duplicate, actually. This user is suggesting to allow flag emojis to be selected from the Apple emoji library and posted in Scratch comment, while that topic is suggesting to add emojis to the list of Scratch-exclusive emojis.

Now, talking about this on the this topic will get us even more offtopic, so if you have any questions about it, ask them on my profile.

My brain went boom reading that, but I won't question it to make us off-topic.

Support. Letting Scratchers post their country as an emoji encourages diversity.

I would assume that adding 200-ish country flag emojis as images would take a lot more effort than just updating the site to support more Unicode emojis.

This is NOT a dupe. This one is suggesting allowing flags to be posted. While, the one you posted is suggesting flag emojis

Semi-support, I would prefer being able to post any Unicode emoji (except for the inappropriate ones) rather than just the flags
