This was like from 2016 - 2018, but why did so many people put Xx_ in their username? I just deeply remember so many people doing this.
It was for the extra swag

Because people think it looks cool, [offtopic] if you search up “welcome to downtown coolsville meme”, it’s the second image that pops up (for me at least) [/offtopic]

Some people thought it would look cool aesthetically.
However, as people’s tastes for their interests change, less people put these in their usernames

It doesn’t unfortunately.
Questions about Scratch seems like it might be a better fit.
I mean, is this really a Question about scratch though lol
it's a question about scratch usernames, so yes.
I thought this was a question about usernames in general LOL

WAIT I WAS SUPPOSED TO PUT THIS IN INTRESTS BEYOND SCRATCH OOPS

Back in medieval times, I believe in the Clinton administration, long before all you zoomers had your TikTaks and whatnot, there was this relic called the Xbox. Most of you kids probably have never even heard of it but it was revolutionary for its use of a bigger graphics than any other video game ever, which was referenced in its massive controller (which is what people actually used to play video games on before touch screens!) Now, Xbox also had a service called Xbox Live. Before you had games like Minecraft and Fortnite, the internet came through carrier pigeon, and worst of all, you had to PAY to play Halo online because the graphics were so big, it took TWO pigeons to deliver each one. Anyways, I got sidetracked, but this “Xbox Live” is where this whole Xx in the username was popularized. Some fringe historians believe that it may have developed far earlier with the lost language known as L33t, spoken by the lost tribe of the H4X0R5, but you can ask your grandparents about that. This tradition would carry over to the Xbox 360, famed for outputting over 360 graphics per second, and to a game called CoD, I believe it was a first person fishing game of some sorts.
