unless you mean in the block pallette,Yes, that's exactly what I meant.
that indeed doesn't do anything, but tapping a block just runs it, both in the block palette and the coding area.I forgot about tapping the block to run it, but as medians said, holding down on it should work.

You only need to bump once every 24hrsThat is not true, you can bump if you already bump but your post has to be on like the 2nd page.

As new scratchers, don't know what is the purpose of a block, there could be a feature like this. This is like a speech-bubble shown when you hover your mouse pointer on the block in the block palette. They doesn't show up for blocks which are inside the scripts as they could be annoying.Support
New scratchers could understand purpose of few blocks, but not all, for example clones. Also, I don't think it should only be New Scratchers because what if they just don't know what the block does, or just forgot? For example, I've seen people who aren't New Scratchers but don't understand blocks like these:We could turn on and off this feature as this could be annoying. When you join scratch and are a new scratcher, this feature could be turned on and as soon as you become a scratcher, it can turn off automatically. There could be an option in editor like “Show block definitions - On/Off”switch backdrop to [previous backdrop v] and wait
((4) mod (3))
Here’s how it looks like:
For high-contrast blocks:

I support of this idea. Until now, I had no idea what some blocks did, even though I joined Scratch around 4 years ago (as far as I can remember, on a different account) at this point. However, coming from a mobile user, there should be a page with all the block definitions, the “help” button from 1.x returning when right-clicking/holding a block (it should also be at the top of the right-click menu), or a new part of the editor that can be toggled on and off explaining all the blocks. There should also be a detailed explanation of what Custom Blocks can do for new Scratchers.
I'll leave some pros and cons here.
I'll leave some pros and cons here.
Pros:
- Helpful for new Scratchers (and Scratchers that forgot some block's functions)
Cons:
- They might end up using Scratch a little more
- Some blocks, including (see below)
((4) mod (3))cannot be understood by Scratchers very easily. I'd say for these blocks, we should do something for each of them, like:
([sin v] of (90))
switch backdrop to [backdrop9 v] and waitmod: Reports the remainder of a number.sin: Reports the result of a complex mathematical equation.(There was no switch backdrop and wait explanation because I don't understand said block)

([sin v] of ())
returns the opposite to hypotenuse ratio for a given angle in a right-angled triangle, measured in degrees. Learn moreMaybe this?

switch backdrop to [backdrop9 v] and wait
switches to the given backdrop, but waits for any ‘when backdrop switches to’ scripts to finish before continuing the script.

Maybe that would be nice for those who have no idea what sin means at first? I'm guessing this would pick the dropdown that is selected.([sin v] of ())returns the opposite to hypotenuse ratio for a given angle in a right-angled triangle, measured in degrees. Learn moreMaybe this?

Perhaps there can be some ‘quick tips’ for the math function block.
‘it represents the ratio of opposite and hypotenuse side
(example project)
it also can represent the y axis of a radius in a unit circle
(example project 2)
It follow this table
sin 0°=0
sin 30°=1/2
sin 60°≈0.87
sin 90°=1
sin 180°=0
sin 270°=-1
it have a graph and the function reset to 0° after a turn.
(Insert graph)
’
([sin v] of (180)) // Apply the mathematical function ‘sine’ using degree. No clue? Study more about the mathematics function…Clicking that study more than it will have a tutorial of sine like

This could be useful perhaps make it a drop-down though. Also what would it say about blocks with multiple uses? Explaining them all may create confusion among new scratchers particularly variables.

What about this?:
For every block, at last there would be “Learn More” which redirects to scratch wiki article of that block (in a new tab).
