while I was on the scratch wiki, I just messed about and looked at all the stuff it had to offer. but a couple months ago i noticed something a bit weird. the scratch cat wiki page had a picture that it describes as:

Early mockup of Scratch 3.0, featuring “Cosmicat”

this variation of scratch cat is more realistic, but does have some similarities to the final 3.0 scratch cat.

this was probably a different sprite from Scratch Cat like the Cat Flying Sprite because this looks way different from the 1.0 and 2.0 versions of the sprite.
i also found a more high quality picture of it, even though it has a grey border around it because of it not being Fullscreen. the 1st and 2nd pictures both say its a mockup, but the cosmicat could be in a real version of scratch 3.0 laying around somewhere in MIT.
in this discussion, we will investigate the lost sprite.

EDIT: the project name is different in the second one so it could just be similar mockups.

I think the cat is only experimental, like a placeholder or an idea that never made its way into Scratch, so I doubt it is still in any 3.0 pages.

this project by mres kind of dwelves into it.

The cosmicat (vector version by me) is just a more realistically designed version of the classic Scratch Cat that was planned to be used in 3.0 and showed up in early mockups, but it got replaced before development started with a modified version of the 2.0 cat.
